Stayed recently here at the OGH as part of a birthday present for my wife. There is little to add that hasn't already been said in other reviews, as the OGH gets just about everything perfect, but I'll give it a go. Booking was straightforward, and reception checked a few days beforehand that everything was covered. We arrived prior to our room being available (c. midday) but were checked in, luggage left with concierge, and taken to the lounge area and provided with a cool glass of fizz. Much appreciated!

Our room (111) was extremely spacious and spotlessly clean, with a good view out across the harbour and to the sea. All the usual items were provided, as you'd expect in a 5* hotel, complimentary water, quality bathroom products, dressing gown, slippers (too small tho!) etc. but the overall feeling was of quality and attention to detail.

On our first evening, as we had decided not to dine out, we ate in the OGH' Curry Room. Service was faultless and the menu, although set, included some really good options, and the food itself was well spiced, perfectly presented and very tasty. Would recommend.

Breakfast is provided in the bright and airy dining room, and again, service from all staff was just as you would require, attentive but not intrusive. There were many options available from the menu, but the fruit, English breakfast, toast and juice we had was just right, and perfectly cooked. A really pleasant, leisurely and ideal start to the day.

OGH is located about five mins walk down a slope in to St Peter Port, which has some good shops, and some OK. We toured the island via bus (but be aware, service once you get off to view /visit etc) is only about one bus every 45 mins and some bus stops are just `Bus` written on the pavement. Can recommend Castle Cornet in the harbour area, not so the Underground Hospital, which could be so much more with some investment. There are some good pubs and restaurants in the town, particuarly recommend Le Nautique, booking essential. The town gets really busy on Saturday night, and there are the usual boisterous crowds revelling...

Overall, we couldn't recommend OGH more highly. They have got everything right, from the service provided, quality of food and drinks on offer, to the hotel itself, including the grounds, the room(s) and the spa (a new experience for me!). We would definitely recommend this to anyone to stay here. Its not cheap, but neither is it overly expensive either for what is provided, and also what should be expected at a hotel of this level and quality, which is exceeded on all levels. Well done to OGH staff, management and Red Carnation group, as you've really hit the mark here. Top quality. Great location. This is ideal for a perfect relaxing and somewhat indulgent Guernsey break. We'll be back.

We visited for a Sunday lunch and between 8 of us we had just about everything from a Club Sandwich to the Roast Beef. Very attentive staff, reasonable prices for the island's only 5 star hotel and an absolutely gorgeous setting. We'll be going back next time to stay for a weekend.

We stayed for 3 nights, the welcome was warm, our room was lovely, the spa facilities were good, food was fantastic, but the restaurant staff were not 5 star, we had no booking for our 1st night dinner, but this was quickly sorted, the staff member commented that guests do not want to sit in the restaurant booths, this was made very obvious as we were completely forgotten twice during our stay. To say we are disappointed is an understatement, if we stay again, I hope you have this issue sorted OGH.

Had a 4 night midweek break during October half-term. Guernsey is beautiful but be aware that some attractions, cafes, etc have closed for the season or have limited opening hours. This hotel was clean and comfortable, the food was plentiful, hot and tasty and good value for money in comparison to other restaurants. The staff could not be better, pleasant, helpful and professional. We didn't use the pool, golf course or spa facilities as we were too busy exploring the lovely island(and Herm). We will on or next visit. The hotel is well located within easy reach of all parts of the island and the grounds were lovely.

Never having been to Guernsey before we were a bit green about the hotel standards. Would we have chosen badly?
Totally wrong. We could not have chosen better. The Pierre Park is great.
From the minute of our arrival the staff could not do more for us. Reception was very warm and immediately put you at ease going through the hotel facilities. Nice touch was a personal letter welcoming us. The room was spacious with a big bathroom. It had a lovely view of the grounds, which are extensive, backing on to the golf course. The hotel going thru a facelift but this is very discreet. No bother.
Flat screen TV,safe, robes, lovely toiletries, tea making facilities and a small fridge with fresh water daily. Only 1 wee point to make. The bedside lights are a bit bright and tend to keep your partner awake if you are reading. Beds are comfy and to get 3 pillows is a nice touch. Housekeeping is of a very high quality.
Breakfast is very extensive with as well as a buffet of cold and ready cooked you can also have specials prepared at no extra cost. You can also have it in your room.
We try to opt for a spa and in choosing this hotel we could quite simply not have had better. Top quality throughout. Good changing room latest showers, good sized pool, sauna ,steam room, gym and a luxurious hot tub. We made full use of the fabulous facilities. We had massages from the excellent spa staff in gorgeously calming surroundings in a very relaxed atmosphere.
We had a latish flight on our check out day but we continued to use the spa till we left for the airport. As it was Sunday we had lunch in the hotel carvery. Top notch food well prepared and presented. Again the staff were attentive and discreet.
All in all we had a fantastic time on our first trip to Guernsey and this hotel cannot be beat in our opinion. Will we return? Try stopping us.

Stayed for 7night break,it's a lovely hotel and the staff are are respectful, friendly and professional at all times, nothing is to much trouble is asked for something, the spa has been modernised and is sheer indulgence,Guernsey is a lovely island for a chill out break, keep an eye out in the local paper for times to cross the causeway to lihou island it is worth the visit also the little chapel is worth a visit although it's being repaid at the moment but you can still see it,there are plenty of other things to visit but that depends how busy you want to be,the wicked wolf is a good place to eat for normal pub grub.

On arrival we found the room to be cold but that was soon rectified by staff who went out of their way to make sure we had extra heating. We had garden view room which was lovely.
We used the pool which was very clean (I saw the staff check chlorine levels)
The dinners (Victor Hugo resturant) took around one and a half hours to two hours for a three course meal to be served.
This hotel offers Yoga classes etc on certain nights.
Wake up calls are offered and a real person knocks on your door!!!!
We found the reception staff to be friendly and felt they wanted us to have a good stay with them. We would highly reccomend this hotel

We had a seamless check in and a comfy room with all the necessary trimmings. While not in town it is close enough. The staff went out of their way to look after any and all requests from our group. The dinner was well thought out and any fault was quickly rectified! We really had a great stay. A tip .... take the 91 bus for a trip around the coast.

This place provides a high quality service but without being in your face about it. Really comfortable with great facilities such as refurbished pool and superb gym. The grounds are great to walk in as well. From our breakfast table you see herons in the tree opposite across the lake. All a few minutes from town and if you wanted to catch the local bus then easy to do as outside the hotel is the stop. Lovely comfortable bed and such quiet hotel. Cannot recommend it enough. The Pavilion restaurant shares this site don't go stay with hotel restaurant and you won't be disappointed.
