We come to Guernsey twice a year. We have family here but we love to stay in Hotels.

We came for Lunch at the St. Pierre on our last visit and decided to give it a whirl this time.

In our opinion it is a Corporate Hotel. Great for Business Travellers and Conferences.

As frequent visitors to Guernsey and frequent guests of 5 star Hotels, I think we'd say :

It's not what we would class as 5-star. It lacks the finesse of other 5-star Hotels.

The staff are generally friendly enough. Although the Spa staff have a practiced air of snobbery and disdain.

The Hair Salon is not open at the weekend.

Food service finishes at 10pm. The Room Service Menu continues for a short time after 10pm but is limited to Sandwiches.

We returned after a dreadful meal at 10:15pm hoping for Desserts and Digestifs - only to be disappointed. We could have the drinks but not the Pudding. I'm not sure how hard it is to scoop some Guernsey Ice Cream into a Bowl?

It's pleasant. It's clean. It's Corporate. The Spa is lovely.

We look forward to returning to the Fermain Valley Hotel next visit.

Previously a Guernsey resident now have returned to the rock this weekend for a friends wedding and stayed 2 nights here. The hotel was the pride of Guernsey back in the day, now it's a smart hotel that needs an overhaul, we had a classic double room with little balcony overlooking the car park. It's clean mostly modern but still has a key to open the room door, dated in this day and age also it has no aircon this is a huge let down. Beds comfortable sheets clean and fresh shower in the bath. Not helpful if you are less able bodied. Wifi throughout. Health suite available

We only dined for the wedding reception so can't comment on other meals but would warn that the bar prices are exorbitant £20 for two large glasses of wine !!! The staff are friendly and as most common in Guernsey not local

This hotel is known locally for corporate seminars and company Christmas parties these will always take preference over guests so expect residents bar and meals to be relocated

If you're there for business it's fine, it's not 5 star it's guernsey's 5 crown rating so don't compare or expect London or even Jersey metro city style hotel
If you're going for leisure to Guernsey. Unless it's on a special package look at other hotels.

Just back from a 4 night stay. Had Dinner every evening in the Restaurant and the food was amazing. We stayed in a Master suite with private garden and our own Hot tub.

The let down for this hotel was Housekeeping. Our Bathroom had not been cleaned from the previous residents. The bottles of Water were not re placed and the same with the Coffee/sugar etc. Every day things were missing and I had to chase them up.

Not really good enough and I know our room was not the only one. This is the only let down for a lovely Hotel.

Recently stayed for 2 nights as part of a friends wedding party.
The room we stayed in was very comfortable had everything required for our stay.
The service during the wedding reception could have done with some work, no water was provided and at one point there was not one server to provide drinks, many people sat with empty glasses the bar was closed as well this was a little frustrating.
Having had to communicate several times with events staff and hotel reception about things that needed amending the night before and the morning of the wedding I would have to say I wouldn't recommend friends or family to use it as a venue for future events.

We stayed here 28 years ago for our honeymoon and returned for a weekend away to celebrate my birthday.
We stayed in a junior suite which was lovely and we had a terrace with a hot tub. The hot tub had been set at 41 degrees which was far too hot so we reset it for 38 which was great once it cooled down.
We ate in the hotel restaurant both nights and as vegans we were very well catered for. There was nothing suitable on the menu but the chef came up with a few options for us to choose from (perhaps they should be on the menu). The restaurant staff were excellent.
We had breakfast in the Victor Hugo restaurant and again the staff were very good and provided us with good vegan options. We had lunch one day in the bar which was also good and there was a vegan option on the menu.
We both had treatments in the spa which were excellent, it has all been renovated since our last visit and is a beautiful area with excellent staff. One of the best massages and facials we have ever had.
The grounds of the hotel are lovely and we enjoyed a walk around the grounds and the golf course.
It was a lovely nostalgic weekend and a lovely hotel, if we ever go back to Guernsey we would definitely stay there again.

we really enjoyed a 3 night break booked through Channel Islands Direct which was ideal; the rooms were lovely, breakfast and snacks very good indeed and we received constantly friendly professional service; all this plus an exceedingly smart leisure club with a feature hot tub which is superb - would love to return

Stayed at the OGH after hearing good word-of-mouth, but I was disappointed. The radiator didn't work, so I was basically living in the Sahara the entire time. The help didn't seem too interested in much, maybe they're jaded. Nice place for a stroll to St. Peter Port, but not my first choice for lodging in Guernsey.

This hotel is supposed to be the best on the Island and I belive it is the best of a bad bunch. With the wealth this Island has I am amazed there are no 5 star places to stay. The OGH is ok but the rooms are very diffrent and some are of course better than others it really is pot luck, the saving grace is its spa and health area which is at least upto date. The messages at the Beuaty in the East are also very good.

Just spent our 25yr wedding anniversary at the OGH and it was superb. Booked the Romantic Break package which was full of treats and we were not disappointed. Accommodation, food and service were all excellent. It was a truly 'fine' experience.

We were visiting Guernsey with my Father and I wanted somewhere special to stay for 3 nights. Having searched Tripadvisor I was set on a couple of choices including OGH.

The Hotel proved to be perfect for us in every way.

Firstly the service was exceptional, there were so many examples as to the special touches, here's one example that stood out. On day 2 I had mentioned to the breakfast staff how much I love my Earl Grey tea. That night, I noticed only Earl Grey tea had been added to our in room tea caddy!

This may have all been pure coincidence, but based on our other experiences at OGH, I doubt it.

We dined the first night and enjoyed a superb dinner in the Brasserie Restaurant - we remember discovering an amazing wine from South Africa called Hannibal that was a brilliant accompaniment to our meal.

The public rooms are all spectacular with lots of wonderful historic travel posters / pictures throughout, along with an excellent gym and spa that my wife used & really enjoyed.

Our king room overlooked the entrance of the property and a small park outside.

Our room was beautiful with plenty of room and a luxurious big bathroom with L'Occitane amenities. It was the little touches everywhere that we loved:

- International plugs - I think UK, US & European
- Really powerful shower
- Tea Maker with a real kettle & tea pot, cleverly out of sight, in it's own cupboard
- Fantastic lighting, clearly well thought through and all on dimmers
- The most beautiful decor, including soft fabrics on the wallets
- Inner window system, making our room very quiet - we could not hear any noise outside

Finally, OGH is located a few minutes walk up from the main shopping area / Marina part of St Peter Port, it's a beautiful place to explore on foot. There was always something wonderful about watching the Island scene from the garden of the Hotel, the regular ferry services, the yachts and the occasional cruise ship coming into port.

We look forward to a return visit in future.
