The event is being organised by Hart District Council, Everyone Active and the Hart & Rushmoor Live at Home Scheme.

People can come along any time between 12.45pm and 4pm to enjoy a chat, a cuppa and pick up information about activities in the local area. There will also be a range of activities to join in with on the day that help keep both mind and body active, including racket sports, table tennis, swimming, Zumba Gold®, walking netball, gym use, quizzes and more.

All activities will be free to new participants and free refreshments will be provided. Everyone is welcome, whatever their fitness level or ability.

Speaking about the event, Sara Kinnell, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Environmental Promotion at Hart District Council said: “Keeping our mind and body active can help us to feel good and stay healthy as we get older.  We’re really pleased to be partnering with Everyone Active and the Hart & Rushmoor Live at Home Scheme to hold this event.  It’s a great opportunity for people to try new activities or get back in to something they used to enjoy.”

Luke Charlton, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting this afternoon of free activities and helping to keep over 50s in the community active.

“Hart Leisure Centre offers a huge range of activities to cater for people of all ages and abilities. There are gentle reintroduction into sports for those who haven’t played for a while, as well as challenging workouts and fast-paced sports for more active customers. I’d encourage anyone looking for a fun way of getting fit and healthy to get involved.”

People who need support with travel arrangements can contact the Hart & Rushmoor Live at Home Scheme who will be able to advise on the timetable for the local pick-up points for the minibus service to this event.  This will be available to help individuals who would like to come along, who need support with transport.  Call 01252 758593 or email HartandRushmoor.LiveatHome@mha.org.uk.

Tracy Guscott, Manager of the Hart and Rushmoor Live at Home Scheme said: "We are very proud to be supporting ‘Time to Refresh’ and to continually promote the importance of independence, social wellbeing and staying active as we get older. Our weekly activities have helped our members enormously and we are looking forward to welcoming the community and bringing some activities to the Time to Refresh afternoon."
