Farnborough town centre will be hosting the Get Involved Fair on Saturday 16 June.
Organised jointly by Rushmoor Borough Council and Rushmoor Voluntary Services, the fair is a chance for voluntary organisations, community groups, sports clubs and societies to raise the profile of the work they do in Aldershot and Farnborough.
More than 30 local organisations have already signed up for the event, which takes place in Queensmead from 10am to 3pm.
Visitors will be able to talk to representatives from the organisations and find out how they can get involved, become a member or access support.
Also taking place in the town centre that day will be council’s monthly craft fayre from 9am to 4pm.
Greg Alexander, Chief Executive Officer of Rushmoor Voluntary Services said: “The fair is a great opportunity for people to find out more about becoming a volunteer and to see just how much help and support is out there.”
Greg added: “This is our second fair. In Aldershot last year, many new volunteers were recruited and local groups were pleased to be able to raise awareness of the services they offer.”
Councillor Gareth Lyon, Cabinet Member for Concessions and Community Support at Rushmoor Borough Council added: We have a strong community of volunteers in Rushmoor and there are around 500 organisations across Aldershot and Farnborough that rely on support from volunteers. The Get Involved Fair is the perfect way to find out more about them all in one place. The event is open to all types of organisation and this year we’ve also been encouraging local sports clubs to get involved.”
