The free swimming scheme is for children aged 16 and under and is supported by Rushmoor Borough Council, DC Leisure and Thames Valley Housing Association.

Councillor Sue Carter, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Youth at Rushmoor Borough Council said: “This is a great scheme and gives young people something positive to do during the summer holidays. Youngsters can choose to go swimming every day or every week – there is no limit to the number of times they go through the summer holidays.”

To take advantage of the scheme young people need to register at one of the participating sites by completing a form with parental permission. Registration costs £2.

Registration takes place within certain times – these are, at Farnborough Leisure Centre, Monday – Friday 10.30am – 11.30am, 2.30pm – 3.30pm or 6.30pm – 7.30pm and Saturday/Sunday 6pm – 8pm. At Aldershot Pools registration times are, Monday – Friday, 10.30am – 12 noon or 2.30pm – 4pm and Saturday/Sunday 1pm – 3pm. Swimming timetables will be given out when young people register – users will be able to swim during general swimming sessions at each pool.

Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by a full paying adult when taking part in free swimming and they must be supervised in the water and changing room by a parent or adult aged over 18 years.
