Hart District Council has agreed to support Fleet and District Carnival committee with free parking in all Council owned car parks across Fleet.

Free parking will be available from 6pm on Friday 1 July until midnight on Sunday 3 July and will be in the following car parks; Church Road, Civic Offices Central Courtyard, Gurkha Square, Harlington Way and Victoria Road. Please note, Gurkha Square car park will be closed for the market on the Friday night from Midnight until 6pm Saturday.

Cllr Mike Morris, Cabinet Member for Town and Village Regeneration, said: "Events like the Fleet Carnival require a huge amount of careful organising over many months, so well done to all the organisers for bringing this wonderful community event to the Town.

This year Hart is pleased to allow free car parking within Fleet car parks, including Harlington Way, however I must stress that although there are no charges in the car parks from Friday 1 July to Sunday 3 July other parking restrictions in and around Fleet remain in place."

Visitors are reminded that the car parks normally fill up very quickly for this event so please do think about car sharing or use of public transport.

Claire Brown, Chairman of the Fleet and District Carnival, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Hart District Council have very kindly granted free car parking in their car parks for the whole of the Carnival weekend and hope that this encourages as many people as possible to get involved, which will not only benefit the Carnival but also the traders in Fleet.

The main procession takes place on Saturday 2 July and departs Connaught Road at 1pm.  We have over 30 floats currently entered into the procession including 3 marching bands & the Carnival Prince & Princesses. We hope that the lovely people of Fleet dig deep and fill our collection buckets as every penny collected in the procession goes directly to our chosen charity Chloe’s and Sophie’s Special Ears Fund.

We also have a range of family friendly events taking place on Calthorpe Park from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 July."
