Redfield’s Garden Centre have raised a huge £3,546.56 for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care, which provides supportive and end of life care for patients and families who are living with a terminal illness, such as cancer. The money was raised through a wide variety of fundraising events held by Redfield’s, which has chosen Phyllis Tuckwell as its Charity of the Year this year.

Choir and Brass Band performances started off the fundraising in the lead up to Christmas, and were accompanied by sales of mulled wine, hot chocolate, mince pies and cookies. With collections tins on their shops tills, sales of Christmas flumpets, and face painting on offer for children, the festive period got the fundraising off to a flying start!

The spring then saw one plucky member of Redfield’s staff take on a sponsored skydive to add to the funds raised for Phyllis Tuckwell, and a team of sporty staff will be joining together to take part in Phyllis Tuckwell’s Dash of Colour fun run in September. Also planned for the summer and autumn are a staff raffle, a quiz night for staff, family and friends, and a fashion show.

In addition to the cheque for £2,758.51 presented to the charity last month, they have also raised an additional £530.70 on the sponsored skydive and £257.35 in collection tins, totalling a huge £3,546.56.

“We would like to say a big thank you to Redfield’s Garden Centre for choosing Phyllis Tuckwell as their Charity of the Year, and for the enthusiasm and commitment which they have put into their fundraising,” said Vanessa Beech, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell. “It’s really great to see so many different and imaginative fundraising ideas and we look forward to seeing Redfield’s staff at ourDash of Colour in September!”

“The team at Redfields were very keen to support a local charity and chose Phyllis Tuckwell. We have enjoyed getting involved with all the fundraising at the store, and have many other activities planned for Christmas this year. We are looking forward to continuing raising more funds, with the helping hand of our wonderful customers’ ongoing support,” said Charles, Redfield’s Garden Centre Manager.
