Graham Mason, Managing Director of Fluor Limited, and Andy Hillman, who were part of the winning team, present a cheque for £34,695.24 to Nick Adams, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Phyllis Tuckwell.

Local charity Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care has recently received a huge donation of £34,695.24 from Fluor, one of the world's largest engineering and construction companies, whose main UK office is located in Farnborough.

The donation was raised by Fluor’s charity golf day, which took place at the prestigious St George’s Hill Golf Club in Weybridge, on 18 July 2019. Fluor invited staff, clients and key suppliers to participate in the event and more than 50 took part on the day.

As well as a round of golf, numerous fundraising activities were also held throughout the day, culminating in a silent auction offering some amazing prizes including signed memorabilia, spa days and weekend breaks.

“We are overwhelmed by the support which we have received from Fluor and very grateful for this fantastic donation,” said Nick Adams, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Phyllis Tuckwell. “£34,695 is the most that we have ever raised through a corporate golf day and £10,000 more than Fluor raised at their golf day last year, which is absolutely brilliant! This money is enough to fund the whole of our Living Well services for nearly three weeks. Supporting nearly 600 patients a year, our Living Well team service is designed for those who need help with every day activities, and offers therapies, advice and nursing care to help them cope with the symptoms of their illness and improve their quality of life.”

“We are grateful for the remarkable generosity and support of our guests at Fluor's second Charity Golf Day as with their help we are able to make a substantial contribution to such a worthwhile charity,” said Graham Mason, Managing Director of Fluor Limited. “I am particularly pleased that we were able to significantly increase our donation this year and we are obviously hoping to raise the bar again in 2020."

Phyllis Tuckwell provides supportive and end of life care for patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer, in West Surrey and North East Hampshire. As the NHS/Government only covers 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £20,000 a day to be able to offer all of its services, which include medical and nursing care, therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support.
