Fleet Pond Nature Reserve, HartleyWintney Commons and the Elvetham Heath Nature Reserve in Hart are some of the very best in the UK and that’s official.

This was the second year that Fleet Pond Nature Reserve has been awarded a Green Flag. Hartley Wintney Commons retained their Green Flag for the fourth year, alongside their Green Heritage Award for the third year. Elvetham Heath Nature Reserve has successfully achieved their Green Flag Award for the fifth year running.

These green spaces are among a record-breaking 1,686 parks and open spaces that have received a prestigious Green Flag Award; the mark of a quality park or green space.

The award, now celebrating its 20th year, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

Cllr Anne Crampton, Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing at Hart District Council, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive Green Flag Awards from Keep Britain Tidy for our sites across Hart. These Awards recognise and highlight that people in Hart are benefitting from a green space of the very highest quality. The Hart District Council Countryside Rangers, and partners, work extremely hard to keep these areas well maintained for all to enjoy and we recognise that open spaces play a significant role within community wellbeing.

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme, especially as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Awards.

“All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.
