New Ashgate Gallery in Farnham, Surrey, presents The Art of Place, an exhibition of original prints and works on paper by the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE).
The exhibition explores how place is experienced and remembered, and how landscape, memory and belonging can shape what we see. Artists respond in different ways, from direct observation to imagined spaces, fragments of travel, maps, streets, coastlines, and interior worlds. Across etching, linocut, screenprint, relief and mixed print processes, the works show the range of contemporary printmaking in the UK today.
The artists include Margaret Ashman RE, Gerry Baptist RE, Mychael Barratt PPRE, David Ferry, PRE, Neil Bousfield RE, Ian Chamberlain RE, Richenda Court RE, Marianne Ferm VPRE, Sarah Granville ARE, Michelle Griffiths RE, Paul Hawdon RE, Desmond Healy ARE, Ursula Leach RE, Michael Middleton RE, Sumi Perera RE, Ian Rawlinson RE, Frans Wesselman RE, Roy Willingham RE.
The works are available to buy, offering an opportunity to start or build a collection of museum-standard printmaking.
