Challengers are a unique organisation providing vital play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people aged 2-25 across Surrey, Hampshire and beyond. They have been situated in Farnham since 2007 when they redeveloped the old Park School site, situated on St. James Avenue in Farnham, into their Play and Youth centres.

Challengers – Experts in Play!

Most children can easily access vital play, ride a bike, play on the swings. Disabled children face a very different world where there is quite literally nowhere to go. The repercussions on their development, and the pressures faced by their families, are enormous. This is where Challengers comes in.

50 out of 52 weeks a year, Challengers provide play and youth projects, for disabled children and young people with any impairment, making them an incredibly unique charity. So many service providers exclude children on the type or severity of their impairment – Challengers bridge this gap in provision and work to ensure that all disabled children and young people have somewhere to go to simply have fun!

For the children and young people they support, Challengers is likely to be the only play or leisure environment that families with disabled children can access outside of their home and school. Their vital work also provides a crucial short-break to families, siblings and carers from the demands of caring.

Help Challengers to support more children and families

It costs an average of £85 per day for a child to access Challengers however, parents pay just £17 so that is remains accessible – Challengers have to fundraise for this difference to ensure they can support more children and young people in real need of their services.

Challengers  support over 1,400 disabled children and young people and now deliver 135,617 leisure hours each year - the equivalent to 3,875 full-time working weeks!

As an individual, local business, club or society, you can support local families with disabled children by making a donation, attending one of their events or taking part in one of their sporting Challenges. Please get in touch if you would like more information
