MINKY AND POPPY TO PLAY TOTO
Two local, well-trained dogs have been chosen by the Epsom Playhouse to star as Toto in this year’s family pantomime The Wizard of Oz at Christmas.
8 year old Minky, a border terrier who lives with Fran Broad in Worcester Park, and seven month old Poppy, a cross-breed who lives with Denise Speyer in Langley Vale, will share the role between them following their successful audition at the Epsom Playhouse yesterday (Sunday 19 October).
Theatre Manager Elaine Teague said: “Minky and Poppy were exactly what we were looking for. They handled their auditions very well and were un-phased by the theatre environment. They got on well with Samantha Giffard who will play Dorothy and were extremely well behaved and very good at tricks!”
The winning dogs will each be awarded a small appearance fee and a family ticket to the show.
Tickets for The Wizard of Oz are on sale now starting from £12 and can be booked at: www.epsomplayhouse.co.uk or by ringing the Box Office on 01372 742555/742227.
