I'd pretty much given up when I came across Alan Wilson Dentistry in Epsom - I actually went in to ask about full dentures. After an initial assessment with Kelvin, I met Alan, who had looked at my scans and photos, and we had a proper detailed conversation about the options. I left, a bit hopeful, but not knowing what to expect. He went away and had a long think, researched, talked to other experts, and next time I visited he had a plan. The technology is amazing, and he was able to show me what it would look like - and it was astounding, an actually normal-looking set of teeth up on the screen. Skip forward a few procedures, a temp bridge (which already looked 10x better), 9 months of braces with monthly adjustment, a couple of fittings, and 3 months after that I walked out with a beautiful, functional set of teeth.
The practice is fantastic. Everyone there is so kind, positive, warm, keen to talk to you, and throughout the whole process I was never made to feel embarrassed or guilty that I'd let things get so bad.
I cannot thank the folks there enough - Alan, Mariola, Kelvin, Mel, Issy, Ivana all worked their magic with me at the sharp end in the scary chair (not so scary now!) Sandra and Kirsty manage everything else, and were so friendly and encouraging every time. Special mention to Kirsty actually - she's the most reassuring, friendly presence you could hope to see at the front desk. And the thought and care that Alan and Mariola put into the treatments was why it succeeded. But they are all so good at what they do, professional, personable and kind, it helped me tremendously.
It's genuinely changed how I feel about myself, my confidence around other people, I'm even re-evaluating the kind of work I do, and I'm no longer reflexively putting my hand up to cover my mouth when talking and laughing. Smiling has become a natural thing (although I still need some practice). They look and feel great - I wish the rest of me looked as good!
If any of this sounds like you, then I cannot recommend enough at the very least going in for a chat. They are apparently up for a challenge, and I'm very grateful for that.
