We were regular users of the Burlington Hotel up until Shearings went bust, so this was our first visit under the new regime.
Let's get the minor niggles out of the way first, we stayed in room 129 that is at the back overlooking a fire escape, this was the only room that was on offer, normally we book a sea view room, the radiator didn't work, although it wasn't a cold room, there's a large damp patch under the window, & the sink in the bathroom belongs to the last century.
Now for the positives, we arrived earlier than expected, but we're able to book in & use our room straight away.
The choices of food, & its preparation was excellent, far better than the Shearings setup.
From our arrival to when we left all the staff were polite & on their game, nothing was a problem for them.
I'm a Ceoliac so I need a Gluten free menu, each daily menu clearly identified what was Gluten free & the choices were plentiful, much better than the Shearings system of a separate limited menu.
It's nice that the hotel has in the main returned to the buffet system for breakfast & dinner, apart from the actual dinner everything is for you to choose the amount that suits your own need.
I couldn't fault the Covid protection, they were forever sanitising the surfaces & tables & there were masses of self help dispensers.
All said & considered it was a pleasure to return to the Burlington, & we'll definitely be resuming our regular use.

This would have been a very grand hotel in its heyday. We found the hotel to be clean, staff friendly and helpful. Hotel probably needs some investment. Good location near pier. We would definitely consider a return.

Had a great stay at this hotel. Yes it’s an old hotel and yes some of the decor is dated but this is to be expected for a hotel of this size. It’s impossible to update each room every year. However all of the staff were fantastic from cleaning staff to waiting staff to front of house. Food was plentiful and something for everyone. Special shout out to Matt you made our weekend always had a smile on your face both in the restaurant and at the Bar. We missed you on our last morning. Entertainment got 2 nights each night was a singer and they both sang something to cover a wide age range so well done. We were a party of 11 ladies all rooms were spotlessly clean some more modern than others but the refurbishment is work in progress. Great value for money so ignore the negative reviews and see for yourself. Once again great 4 day break. Thanks everyone

Well I booked a single as Just me ..room is petite and the door does not fully open but clean
Hotel was at probs 20% capacity
I was in a side room over a noisy bar
Room number 121 I was not offered an upgrade and with a nearly empty hotel .this was a shock .even pay a small fee but nothing .
So I am 4/5 on this reason .why not upgrade your arrivals sp they spread the word .and return for another stay
Other than that a nice place to stay .

Just stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. I am a germ phobic and can assure you it was clean.
yes there's stains but its an old building with character. Room was massive with amazing sea views. (paid for sea view) with all amenities and more than some other hotels.
heater, fan, iron, ironing board, hairdryer and a safe. Bathroom lovely, roomy and clean. shower was great.
lifts x2 are small but very quick. I didn't have any problems.
staff are lovely. polite and friendly. helpful but not in your face. there if needed. I felt very comfortable to just wander about and nose . I never once felt like I couldn't.
food was lovely and plenty.
location is great with easy parking.
everything was lovely. I can't complain at all n I can usually find something to complain about 🤣

We decided to come back to the Burlington, as we loved our previous stay.
The rooms are very clean and have everything you need. The hotel oozes such character! Beautiful Victorian hotel with real history to it.
The food is lovely! A lovely new bar area opposite reception was spot on. Nicely decorated and relaxing to sit in.
The manager there is an amazing person. Very professional so attentive to the guests. The staff really make your stay a real pleasure. Young lad who was working there in the restaurant was amazing, he had such great customer service skills and so polite. (Working there while at uni)
Had a fabulous new years eve there. Already looking at dates for our next stay

We enjoyed a lovely New Years break on a self drive Shearings holiday. Very inexpensive and great value for money.
The hotel is old and although it’s been painted there is still much to do. The main problem with the hotel is, if you can’t manage stairs once down in the restaurant/bar areas the ladies toilet is down very steep stairs, so this facility was only available to a couple in our group via the very small lift and negotiating several heavy doors, or go back to your room and once again several fire doors. This really does need to be looked at urgently.
The food was very good and the service although slow was acceptable (we paid Shearings prices and not the Ritz) and hospitality has taken a huge knock from the covid virus.
The room was clean although the bathroom could’ve been a bit bigger. The beds were very comfortable.
All in all I would consider the Burlington again if I ever wanted to visit Eastbourne.
Well done to all the staff who were working under exceptional circumstances

Large Victorian hotel with car park at rear (Bookable). Small room on 4th floor but clean and wonderful views from sunrise to sunset. Sound proofing on party wall with next room not too good. Usual English breakfast but not much choice otherwise; but a reasonable evening menu selection. Staff fine and a clean and elegant but dated interior. Convenient for shops, Due to the time of year and Covid almost empty so most facilities closed. No evening entertainment but frankly we were relieved. A really good base near the centre, and panorama over the sea whatever the weather. We felt it was good value for the money and we would return if only for the views.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Burlington.
Staff was limited which was only to expected however they were courteous and friendly.
We were very lucky to have a top floor room with superb views.
We had an unexpected treat when the female vocalist appeared to do a show on Friday night. She was brilliant.
I also liked the personal touch of the box of clotted cream fudge in our room.
Thank you for making our long weekend a great trip.
