Love, Love It, but Not for Why You Might Imagine
I love this place, but it is NOT for the faint of heart. I love it for all its warts and faults, and the fact that when I stay here, I’m dropped right into the middle of Roald Dahl’s “The Witches.” It is a hotel from truly a bygone era, with the majority of the clientele also from that same era. The elevator barely works, if at all. In the summer, it is absolutely blistering hot in the rooms with no real capability of cooling or ventilating the room. The bathrooms in some of the rooms are right out of the 70’s flick “Taxi Driver”, while others were brought into the modern age recently. The beds are ok, water pressure dubious, at best. The breakfast time is brimming with entertainment as long as you posses that quirky sense of humor and copious amounts of patience. I will forever come back to this hotel as long as they do not renovate. Nowhere else can you get this level of historical cultural inculcation at such a bargain price. Splurge for a seaside view to make your stay truly spectacular.

I love this hotel, even though its tired and needs some TLC. The food is really good and lots of variety. The staff are welcoming and very friendly, willing to go above and beyond. We are looking at our next mid week break.

I first came across the Kilkenny Crew a few months ago while I was admitted to the DGH in Eastbourne, and since then they’ve become something I genuinely look forward to listening to every week.
There’s something really special about the atmosphere they create on air. The music is always brilliant, the conversation feels natural, and there’s such a positive energy throughout the show. I especially love the fact they can laugh at themselves while they’re live on air — it makes everything feel relaxed, real and full of personality.
During my stay at the DGH, coming across the show was such a lovely discovery, and I’ve kept listening ever since. I now follow the Kilkenny Crew on social media too and really enjoy seeing everything they’re doing both on and off air.
You can tell how much passion and effort goes into the show, and that comes across every time you listen. It never feels forced — just genuinely good people, great music and really good vibes.
I only wish they were on every afternoon because I’d happily tune in every day!
