The hotel is opposite the pier making it a good base for your seaside holiday. The staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are not to small and have your basic requirements which are needed as well as WiFi coverage in the rooms. The front rooms of the hotel have good views of the pier and the sea. There can be a bit of noise from the street at night due to people leaving the bars at the pier.
The Hotel has a big bar area and a nice sunny lounge with views of the pier. As the hotel has coach parties the breakfast can be busy.

We stayed at the Afton in connection with our wedding reception which was also held at the hotel. From the first time we visited to make enquiries to the moment we left the day after our reception the one thing that shone through was the professionalism and friendliness of every member of staff we met.

The hotel was clean, the food was good, bar prices were very reasonable and everyone had a great time. The rooms weren't huge, but again were clean, functional and with a comfortable bed and great views from the room we had.

In summary it is very easy to forget this is a two star hotel and we are already thinking of the next occasion we could celebrate at the Afton.

We recently had our 5th short break this year at the Afton hotel. Each time the staff have been friendly, helpful and courteous. We booked half board again, and the evening meals were hot and tasty, as were the breakfasts. The position of the Afton is ideal as within walking distance of most of the attractions. Hope to fit another break in before it gets too cold.

The hotel staff, rooms and meals were great. Parking was a trial! It was unfortunate there was a very noisy party held in the basement restaurant. So a quite drink in the bar was out..we were glad we had a room at the back which dulled most of the noisy. At breakfast in the basement where the previous nights party was held, the floor was sticky, mucky and filthy from the night before...how long does it take to hoover and mop!To make things worse the tables were being relaid for lunch.

We recently stayed at the Afton for a 4 night break. We had not planned to stay and had originally booked at another Eastbourne Hotel. On arrival we were told that we had been transferred to the Afton because of problems with our room. This turned out to be a stroke of luck. We ended up having the best short break we have ever had. The staff were welcoming, warm and friendly. Our room was spacious with a large en suite. It was clean and comfortable. The food and service in the restaurant was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the serving staff. The general feel of the hotel was relaxed and friendly. We have recommended it to friends and family and will definitely be back. For the money it surpassed all expectations.

Stayed for 4 days half board in Sept with Just Go holidays. Accommodation food and staff were all first class. They really went out of their way to make us welcome. 3 course dinners and full english breakfast were all served at the table piping hot. For a budget Hotel look no further, you won't be dissappointed.

It's pier adjacent location is beautiful, it's staff wonderful, and the owners genuinely care about giving you an enjoyable and affordable stay. I'd highly recommend The Afton to anyone looking for a seaside mini-break or use of their function rooms. I've stayed both to take advantage of the lovely scenery on the downs, and to attend a wedding, both stays were excellent. The wedding in particular was lovely and had a quality to it, you wouldn't expect of a 2* hotel.

Went on a coach trip and stayed at the Afton Hotel . It is right opposite the pier and the Sea.The Hotel is really very nice . the rooms are comfortable and kept beautifully clean. The waiting staff are very quick with the meals, and the food was excellent. Cooked breakfast was 2 rashers of Bacon and it was very good , no fat atall.and egg , sausage, tomato and beens. The evening Meals were just as good. Entertainment was what you would expect , but there was a brilliant magician on the last night. I would definately go back to his Hotel again

I recently stayed at the Afton Hotel when attending a weekend event organized by an organisation I am a member of. I was only able to stary one night rather than the full 3 nights but I'm glad. The lunch was tiny and stale and there were not enough sfaff. Also, the evening meal was not that great as their combinations are a little odd (such as salad with a roast). As for the breakfast, what they deem to be The Full English is more like half an English as again there was not much.

Although many of the staff were very friendly, a few (including the maid) were not very helpful. Also, even though I stayed not even half way through November, anyone would have thought it was Christmas day as the place wass smothered in decorations and the live entertainment kept playing Christmas songs which to me was far too early. Also, when ordering drinks at the bar, if they had run out of a particular drink, they refused to go and get more from downstairs, and took forever to serve (particularly on a sunday) because they were so short staffed.

On the plus side, the room was clean and tidy and the bed very comfortqble. However don't bank on having a nice power shower and it not that great.

It is also easy to find the Afton Hotel from the main town centre and main bus stops/train station for those using public transport.
