Hotel is very, very tired indeed.. The hotel was fully booked and yet only had an outdated lift wooden for 2 small framed people..
Very tired and dated but a good base while we were there for airbourne..

We went for the airbourne weekend and the room we booked was extremely comfortable. It was a superior room and had a view over the beach and the sea. Perfect for watching the aeroplanes if we got fed up with the crowds on the beach. The room was very clean on arrival and all the staff we spoke to were extremely helpful. The breakfast is a normal buffet affair and totally acceptable. There are plenty of superb eateries within walking distance as well with cuisines from around the world. The hotel itself is I assume pretty old and as most hotels could do with a little tlc in some respects. Only one of the 2 lifts were working for our entire stay ( the tiniest lift I have ever seen) but I'm sure this will be fixed reasonably soon. So we used the stairs to come down from level 3 and the lift to go up as we aren't very fit. Also be aware that there are no fridges in the room which on a very hot summer stay is a bit of a problem but any other time of year would not be a problem at all. We had temperatures of 30+ degrees for 4 days and survived with a cool box and ice from the local shops. Overall I would recommend a stay here if you want a beachfront hotel. This was our 2nd stay so it must be ok. There is hotel parking out the back which is very busy during the airshow weekend but at £6 a day it's a bargain in these expensive times. It's probably less busy the rest of the year but I'm only guessing. If you like a beach and the pier holiday then you'll like this hotel.

The hotel is in a great position and the staff are helpful. However, our bedroom was unbelievable hot to the extent it was impossible to sleep. We did have two fans but it made little difference. The outside of the hotel needs work doing to do as it looks shabby. Do not believe it is a good standard for the price we paid.

I have just had a lovely 5 day stay for the Airshow , l wanted to write this as there are a lot of bad reviews on this hotel and l have felt very safe , well looked after and cared for , by all the lovely staff in all areas !
I had booked a superior double room 315 and the sea view was fabulous , very comfortable with a full bathroom , l was booked as dinner bed and breakfast , which was great , l read that breakfast was poor with just rubber sausages and scrambled eggs , this is not the case !!!!There was a abundance of food , Bacon , fried and scrambled eggs , black pudding , Cumberland sausage , cereals yoghurts , toast hot drinks juices
Dinner was also good l didn’t have a bad meal , give choices on each course , Sea Bass , fish n chips , Curries , pies , lots of choice including vegetarian options .Friendly warm staff in the dining room.Louie made me laugh but he was very attentive and professional .
The hotel is in need of a facelift but then it’s Victorian which l love it is due for a refurb my room had been refurbed and was great .
The Lift is tiny and is a nightmare !!! the other lifts out of service this really needs sorting out !
“ Excellent “ Value for money in a prime location .
Thank you for a lovely Stay

Lovely old hotel, great location, lovely staff. The location is great, couldn't be better, right on the seafront, very close to pier and bandstand.
All the staff we met were super helpful and friendly.
Our room on the second floor was nice and had a great view of the sea.
The bar was very reasonably priced.
Easy to pop back in from the beach to get changed or use the loos.
The price was great.
We were staying on an extremely hot day - 30 degrees - and the room was very hot. The windows only open a bit and the only fan was a table fan. The fan was noisy to run at night. The room needs a silent free standing, more powerful fan. We slept badly because of the heat.

The lift is tiny and suitable for two slim people and a couple of cases. Didn't bother us as we were happy to mainly use the stairs. Larger people would struggle with such a small lift.

The hotel is very old, so the facilities such as the very small lift and lack of air con are a reflection of the age of the building, but these short comings are reflected in the price.
