Had a nice stay, staff friendly and helpful. Upgraded our room to have a sea view. Breakfast was good and dinner fine. Only deducted one star as in the entrance bar food is advertised as being available until 5pm but when i tried to order sandwiches from the bar menu at 2pm for lunch was told the kitchen was closed. Would stay again though.
Updated May 2019. Second stay and have removed a star from last time. Needed pillow for my bed when arrived....took 5hrs and numerous requests to get one. Food has gone downhill since last visit. Breakfast still ok but starters and mains need improvement only puds been good.

The staff are nice, customer service is basic but not bad in any sense. The food is good but the rooms are very tired looking.

It is a lovely hotel. The ancient architecture and its sophisticated interior makes it magnificent. The rooms are nice and overall the hotel is very clean and tidy.

Near the local town center and opposite the beach and pier with stunning views and comfortable rooms. Perfect little getaway for locals and those visiting eastbourne. Breakfast and bar available. Easy check in and check outs with accommodating staff
Rooms are well furnished and equipped with towels, shower toiletries, iron, hairdryer.
Would recommend getting a late check out as 10am is too early to leave such a lovely hotel

Lovely hotel. Rooms are big and comfortable. Bathrooms are very big, could do with a few additions to make it feel more homely but are clean and functional.
Breakfasts are tasty and appeal to every tastes.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Cannot fault it.

Pretty run down, could do with renovation. Staff were all friendly. Room rate of £30 per night for my single room would be the most I would pay.

Grand hotel (1851) that's faded and needs refurb. Under new management who are bringing the place up. Reception helpful. Room needed a lightbulb changes, and bathroom fittings repaired. No room fridge. WiFi worked. Cocktail bar led by a real enthusiast. Breakfast not so great. Staff helping everyone, and pastries (ordered in I suspect) good. But the cooked breakfast could be better without much extra cost

Down here for business so the location not relevant but close to the pier and the beach. Room was good and service fine. Stayed here twice so far and back next month.

The hotel location was spot on!! Literally in front of the seafront, pier and all these amazing food stalls. We have the “superior sea view room” I highly recommend you to book this room; the room was super spacious , the sea views directly from our room was just a surreal experience.
