We have just returned from a Shearings, 3 day bed, breakfast and evening meal self drive break at the Burlington Hotel. We could not fault the hotel in any way, the room was spacious and beds comfortable. We didn't pay for an upgrade so it looked over the car park which didn't bother us. Meals are excellent and entertainment is what you would expect. We were keep waiting for about half an hour one night because what we ordered was not cooked. It was on the menu. The only complaint we have is the price of the drinks. They are horrendous. For example: a small bottle of tonic water 125ml was £1.60, Bottle of water £2. A lot of the people who take these holidays are elderly and it feels to me like a rip off!!

We are younger retirees and we're able to walk up into the town (a short distance) and buy drinks at half the price. I appreciate there has to be a mark up for the hotel but in most cases it is 50% or more. How can this be right. My advice is if you like a drink, take yourself a bottle to keep in your room for a nightcap or day cap for that matter.

We paid £99 each for a weekend break, this included travel, BB&E plus a gala dinner on the Saturday and 4 free dinks the same evening, there was also free coffee after your evening meal in the snack bar.
We were at the back of the hotel, so no sea view, which you can upgrade to, but the room was clean, had been updated and had a shower over the bath, towels were changed daily. My three gripes were, the shower screen seemed a bit short for the shower and the carpet in the bedroom could have done with cleaning, it was badly stained in one or two areas, and price of drinks at the bar. £7.80 for a pint of John Smiths and a medium red wine. But overall, with pleasant staff, a great driver and entertainment, good value for money. Free wi fi in public areas but we were able to log on in our room.
We walked to the Lloyds bar in town on the Friday and Sunday evening, great crowd and cheap drinks. We also took the bus to Brighton on the Sunday, a lovely run out and lots to do when you get there.

Just left Eastbourne on a lovely sunny day.
Our second visit to the Burlington and wont be the last. All smoothly settled in as usual.I love travelling with Shearings as I know its such a help when your cases are taken up to your rooms. Our only issue is the noisy floorboards. We should have asked for a top floor.Food hot delicious and varied usual bay hotel menu.We were served by Daniel who was quick polite and always pleasant. Our room standard on 3rd floor clean tidy bathroom the same.Always warm.
Mark as entertaining as ever so funny and a one off.So overall lovely holiday and still the best in our book.

Just spent 4 nights in room 443, its a huge twin bedded room with a huge bathroom. Basic, not luxury, it was very dusty but beds were made nicely each day. Its a quiet room. Food was varied, tasty and plentiful. Staff all very polite and helpful. Entertainment was ok but best was the organ player he was very funny. There are better hotels, they cost more, simple. You should enjoy yourself here.

My friend and I have just come back from a 3 night Shearings trip to the Burlington and we will definitely be returning there. For what we paid it was excellent value for money. The hotel is located directly opposite the seafront and a nice short walk to the City center. The room was spacious, clean and warm, the restaurant food was nice with good service. What really made it for us was the staff and the great evening entertainment with Marky Mark Snow who was not only an excellent all round entertainer.but a really lovely guy too.The bar staff particularly Matt, was briliant, they also kept us entertained throughout the night whilst doing a great job. Yes, the drinks cost a little more than they would in a pub but to be expected in a hotel, also we didn't mind too much as we'd been given 4 free drinks vouchers each to use on the Saturday night...which brings me to Saturday nights singer, Scott Free, despite the name he was fantastic! What a voice! We wasn't expecting him to be that good so we were very pleasantly surprised as we love all the swing/Ratpack music. This was my first Shearings trip and based on this one, I will be booking more in the future.

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights at the Burlington Hotel and although we were much later arriving than anticipated due to problems with trains, there was a hot meal available for us in the Dining Room which was much appreciated.

The Burlington Hotel is an impressive building "from the outside". The reception and lounge areas are very welcoming. Our room was 417 on the 4th floor and was adequately furnished with an excellent seaview. However, as with most of the hotel there is room for some redecoration. In the corridor the carpet was stained at the edges and repainting is required in most areas. This is a listed building and redecoration and refurbishment is an ongoing problem and we do accept this. The staff were all very friendly and the food although basic was well cooked and presented although the breakfast was a little disappointing.

Special thanks again to the Manager for enabling us to stay for an extra night when a booking error had occurred on our part although this was due to a misinterpretation of the booking arrangements we had made. We enjoyed our stay nevertheless.

This was a Shearings 5 day break. Like a lot of old hotels, they have seen better days.
The Restaurant, bar and entertainment area's were clean and well decorated.
Our room was a little 'tired', but it was clean, plenty of tea and coffee available and a TV. The bathroom also was clean, but tired.
The food was tasty and sufficient. The service was excellent.
For the price, this was excellent value.
Just one complaint - smokers congregated outside at the main entrance causing congestion and the inevitable smell.

Lovely hotel right on the front overlooking the sea and the pier. The room was very spacious as was the bathroom. Beds very comfortable with lovely crisp white linen. Plenty of towels in bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities in room although they did not provide any biscuits! Hairdryer also provided. Could do with a towel rail nearer to the sink and the toilet roll holder needed to be closer to the toilet! Restaurant very clean and inviting. The food was excellent with a good choice. Evening entertainment was very good and the lounge and seating areas were comfortable. One of the lifts only holds 2 people but there is another one which accommodates 5 people. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful.

My husband and I have just returned from a 4 day break at The Burlington Hotel in Eastbourne. We had a lovely time, the food was excellant and the staff very helpful and friendly. The hotel is quite old and has a lot of character, the downside to this is being disturbed by creaking floorboards from above whilst trying to sleep.
The entertainer calked Mark was brilliant, he played several waltz's for the older generation and they loved it. He even got them up to dance with him ( a really good sport). His quips and jokes were brilliant.
All in all I would stay at the Burlington again.
