Uckfield Bonfire & Carnival Society will once again kick off the Sussex bonfire season with its annual carnival on Saturday 5 September 2026.
The day includes a children’s procession during the afternoon, followed by the main torchlit evening procession through Uckfield High Street. The evening procession brings together floats, community groups and visiting Sussex bonfire societies, with thousands of spectators traditionally gathering in the town for the event.
The Society has been part of Uckfield life since 1827 and continues its longstanding “We Burn for Charity” tradition, using the event and associated fundraising to support local charities and good causes.
For 2026, Uckfield High Street is scheduled to close between 1.30pm and 2.30pm, and again between 7pm and 10.30pm, while the carnival processions take place. Visitors should allow extra time for travel and expect local road and bus diversions.
