Uckfield’s long-running bonfire and carnival tradition brings together local residents, visiting societies and community groups for one of the opening events of the Sussex bonfire season.

Dating back to 1827, Uckfield Carnival was originally organised by local traders and now takes place on the first Saturday of September each year. Uckfield Bonfire & Carnival Society continues the tradition under its long-standing “We Burn for Charity” slogan, with money collected on Carnival Day donated to local charities and good causes.
