Embrace (East Sussex) is a registered charity for disabled and special needs children and their families offering support and advice through clubs outreach and advocacy. Our charity registration number is 1167469 and we are based in Eastbourne but work throughout East Sussex.

Who are we?

Embrace has two core services, these are our Saturday Club that provides respite to disabled and Special Needs children and our advocacy service which is run by lawyers and offers support with regard to Education, Health and Care Plans and benefits such as Disability Living Allowance.  We support parents from application through to tribunal hearing as required.  This is a voluntary service and help is given freely, however many of our parents choose to donate to Embrace because they are so grateful of the help we give them and realise the importance of our work.

Our Saturday Club

We take Children from the age of 5 years up to 25 years within our club with a view to giving our parents a break, but also to help mentor our children in developing social and independence skills and friendships.

There are many friendships that have struck up within the walls of our Saturday Club at Eastbourne Mencap’s The Hive and we are very proud of our children for the hard work they put into maintaining their friendships.  Our club runs from 10:30 to 3pm from the Hive inPevensey Roadand morning, afternoon or all day sessions are available.  Why not contact us to book a show around with our Club Manager Laura?

Please note every third Saturday of the Month the club runs from the Devonshire Children’s Centre in Eastbourne.

Parent Support Group

The Parent Support Group runs every Tuesday in term time at St Agnes Church Hall inWhitley Roadfrom 10 am until noon.

We have various guest speakers that specialise in different topics relevant to special needs and disabled families and parents can find a support network here, along with a cup of tea and yummy biscuits.

We are excited to announce that we are shortly launching our new course to be run by our advocacy service “SEN Law for Mummies and Daddies”  So watch out on Facebook to see when our new course is available and book in quickly to make sure you get a space!

We have a creche available here for children and appointments can be booked with our advocacy team to speak about education or welfare by contacting Becky or Frank via this page

Early Years Group

This service is for preschool children and runs every Thursday in term time from 930 am to 12am.  It is a similar model to our Parent Support Group and runs from Devonshire Children’s Centre.  Occupational Therapists can be available to speak with if booked in advance and of course our advocacy team can be booked for appointments regarding education or welfare.  Again a creche facility is available.

Holiday Activities

Our children love to get out in the holidays, but often its hard to get out when you are a special needs parent.

Embrace offer group activities during the holiday for parents to go out in a large group to provide moral support to deal with the difficult challenges of a day out with a disabled or special needs child.

Holidayactivities take place on Tuesdays in holiday time. Watch out on Facebook for the events!
