Contact the Elderly provides monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for people aged 75 and above, who live alone, without nearby family and friends.
There are over five million people over 75 in the UK. Over half live alone and one in ten feel that no one even knows they exist. This deep well of loneliness ruins many lives.
To reduce this loneliness, Contact the Elderly (CtE) uses volunteers to provide monthly outings, normally in a family home and on a Sunday afternoon, for people over 75 who are very isolated and live alone.
There are over 800 Contact the Elderly groups scattered across the UK, with almost 12,000 regular volunteers bringing ongoing companionship to over 6,200 lonely, elderly people.
If you have a car OR a house with a downstairs toilet and would like to help us whilst having a good time - give us a call! Currently looking for volunteers drivers to pick up an accompany our older guests to a monthly tea party t the home of one of volunteer hosts.
"The time I feel most lonely is after six o'clock at night but when I have been out to a Contact tea then I don't feel lonely at all, just fresh memories of a lovely afternoon out with friends" - Harold, 89 (Contact the Elderly member).
