Today was my first time back in the saddle after 15 years—and what an amazing ride it was! Huge thanks to the lovely ladies at the riding centre for making it such a welcoming and enjoyable experience. I’m already looking forward to my next visit in a few weeks. Was in the local area for a couple of weeks and missing my usual time with horses, so decided to go with Polegate after scouring the internet for reviews (travelling from St Leonards, train was very easy).<br><br>Did a private hack and so glad I did, the grounds and horses were beautiful and you can tell they take good care and pride in their stables, equipment etc (and looks like they're even upgrading).<br><br>Staff were very friendly and welcoming from my first impressions with them on the phone to the hack itself (Macy was lovely and we did some fun cantering through the woods 😍) and to top it all off, it was way more affordable than back at home 😅<br><br>What a refreshing experience and welcome surprise- wish my place was as great as this one! ❤️

Booked an hour hack and it was perfect! Everyone is friendly and the atmosphere is nice- some places within the horse world can come across snobby, polegate do not. Friendly and patient the entire time, forgot the name of the lovely blonde lady who walked us on our hack but Tilly and Romi were extremely well behaved despite the extreme heat! Will be coming again :)

I have been at PEC for almost 8 years now. I’ve loved every second the staff are always so nice and care for your every need. The horses are always treated so nicely. I have learnt so much from being there.

I received a warm welcome when I first arrived at PEC, and was very impressed by the people’s helpful attitude, care for their animals, expertise and high standards of safety. I now ride at PEC every week, and it’s a joy to be with healthy, happy horses and ponies and to hack out in great company through beautiful traffic-free landscapes. I feel very fortunate to have found Polegate Equestrian Centre.

I would highly recommend coming here whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider. They always accommodate your needs and I just love getting to ride here and especially the hacks through abbots wood and the bluebells!<br>Both of my kids ride here and my son is SEN and they are so good with him!<br>The horses and ponies are lovely and are always well cared for.<br>I would recommend this riding school to everybody ☺️

I would definitely recommend Polegate equestrian centre. It is a great riding school for all abilities, whether you fancy a wonder through abbots wood ( direct access) or if your looking at gaining more experience from riding then book for some lessons, they have a great way of teaching ensuring that each person is taught to their own individual abilities, as a beginner you will start at 30 minutes, and as you gain experience you will move on to 1 hour lessons if you wish too. They also do 45 minutes.<br>My niece has been riding here for 4 years now, and she is thriving. She has days when she doesn't believe in herself and wants to give up but with the kind guidance from all the staff and her brilliant instructor they guide her through it, and this is making her a better rider. She enjoys helping out at the stables and her weekly lessons and is gaining so much knowledge.<br>They have a variety of ponies and horses all of whom have their own personalities, your definitely find it hard to pick a favorite.

Having not been horse riding for over 40 years I decided to get back in the saddle. My experience since starting nearly 3 years ago at Polegate Equestrian Centre has been such a pleasure with excellent tuition and extremely warm and friendly staff. The horses are exceptionally friendly and well cared for. I cannot recommend Polegate Equestrian Centre enough, from the lessons in the school to the hacks through Abbotts Wood especially when the bluebells are in full bloom. Thank you all for making me feel so welcome.

My son has been riding at Polegate Equestrian Centre since he was 2. He’s now nearly 16 and still has his weekly lesson with Carly. He has progressed through different levels and now competes in show jumping.<br>I/we would not hesitate to recommend PEC. All the staff (and helpers / volunteers) do their best to ensure everyone has an enjoyable experience.<br>My son has volunteered since he was 10 and has enjoyed every minute.<br>I myself have spent many hours at PEC and it is obvious how well the horses are cared for - I’ve even helped take them to their overnight field which is often what you don’t see - the vast field the horses have to relax and enjoy.<br>I don’t hesitate in giving 5 *

I found Polegate after my previous riding school closed after covid, a friend recommended PEC and I' m so glad she did. I came to riding rather late in life, and it can be difficult to find a school sympathetic to the adult novice. My main aim is to be a well balanced rider and have enjoyable hacks, Polegate provides both. I've found my instructor very responsive, she has helped me improve my seat with lots different exercises on different horses.<br>Polegate is great for hacking, with car free access to Abbots Woods with scope for canters and gentle walks through the woods.<br>The horses are well cared for and the staff are friendly and welcoming. I would recommend PEC to any adults looking to return to riding or take up a new hobby. Photo shows me on the lovely Utah.

Myself and my daughter have been riding at Polegate Equestrian Centre for around 7 years. My daughter has progressed through the groups and the instructors have always advised when the time has come to move up. Group lessons have been amazing for bringing on her riding and we also have the occasional private lesson to work on so wthing particular. The horses and all well cared for and we have been at the yard when the physio & farrier are there. The staff are always polite and friendly and happy to impart their knowledge. So happy we found Polegate

My daughter rides here every Saturday and absolutely loves coming and loves her instructor. I struggle to get her to come home. She also does most own a pony days which are run really well. She's been riding here since she was 2 and now almost 7 and improved so much.

I have been attending Polegate equestrian centre for over 3 years now and ever time i leave, I always have a massive smile on my face. The staff are always so lovely and kind and have always made me feel so welcome. Furthermore, the horses and ponies are all so loving and kind natured. I cant wait to come back and ride in the half terms :)

I Highly recommend polegate equestrian centre my daughter and I both ride here and the staff are always friendly and professional. Our lessons are always brilliant and the hacks are always so much fun ! They also cater for disabilities and take the time to understand the individual needs of each client which is rare to find. All of the horses and ponies have great personalities they are very well taken care of and are clearly loved by all who work there.<br>My daughter attends all the own a pony days even though she owns her own pony as they are always really fun and joins all the seasonal events from Easter egg hunt to summer shows to Halloween and Christmas parties which are always great fun. All the staff get involved sometimes it’s hard to tell who’s having more fun the kids or the staff !<br>So if your looking for a riding school for lessons or hacks out into abbots wood, polegate equestrian centre is the place for you.<br>After 7 years of riding at PEC my daughter still loves it just as much wouldn’t go anywhere else

I have nothing but praise for this riding school. The staff are very understanding to different needs, they understand what you need in a horse when booking either a lesson or to go for a hack they pick the correct horse for your skills. I have never had a problem with polegate equestrian and would recomend.obviously if you want a specific time or horse they try their best to accommodate you but this isnt alway possible and boooking in advance would be advised.

Wow, what an amazing place I am so proud of my daughter and the great relationships she has made with her instructors, after a bad fall ( NOT HERE MAY I ADD) she has bounced back full of confidence, this is 100% down to the knowledge, care, professionalism and patience of all the staff at Polegate Equestrian Centre.<br>My daughter also has special educational needs and some of the staff are qualified and helping with her autism. I can’t praise the staff enough with their understanding and dedication to this.<br>You are always made to feel welcome and the opportunities that all the children have to interact and learn is refreshing.

I went for an adult lesson in February. I have nerves and was struggling with everything but the instructor was great! And the trainee Emily, the team are really friendly.<br>Hoping to return this summer for some evening confidence building :)

Took my 3 year old for her second pony ride today however it was a bit disappointing compared to her previous session. We didn’t feel welcome at the main reception, very little verbal interactions, instructors didn’t seem as friendly as they were last time. Little to no communication with us as parents. No questions regarding how experienced our daughter was. This has put us in doubt whether to book another session or look for some other equestrian centre.
