Eastbourne Visitor Services Centre

A large modern space with information desks immediately in sight as well as an inquiry if I was looking for anything in particular. No doubt Eastbourne, like all other towns whose economy owes so much to tourism, is keen to sell its visitors as many hotel rooms or theatre tickets it can muster. Sadly for them I was already about to make my way to the station to leave having thoroughly enjoyed the John Nash exhibition in the Towner Gallery next door. Not even time to visit the rear cafe which had an outside patio with some spectacular views over the tennis courts and the town suburbs behind.

I visited, not for information, but for my covid vaccination. It was very well organised and staff happy, chatty and helpful.

It would have been better if the signs had pointed to the new address. we spent all morning walking following signs to the wrong place and then walked acroos town to the new place. Not impressed.

This information centre has a lot of good local and surrounding area information and the staff are very helpful. You can also purchase cheaper rail tickets to London and bus tickets to Brighton. Worth phone a visit if you are a visitor to the area.

Obviously one could ask the staff about hotels, transport, buy tickets for activities and generally find out about the local area. There are many leaflets about attractions in the area and in the wider area too plus a good small shop where one can choose postcards, tourist gifts and books to buy.

Not on the list but highly recommendable - the open-top bus loops round by Beachy Head with a audio guide to all the points of interest. Tickets are valid for 24 hours and you can hop off where you like, walk for a bit and get back on again. Excellent service.
