Association of Carers – Support for Unpaid Carers in East Sussex
With over 30 years of dedicated service, the Association of Carers provides essential support to unpaid Carers across East Sussex. Originally founded by Carers and healthcare professionals in Hastings and St Leonard’s, the organisation has grown into a county-wide charity offering a wide range of services based on what Carers say they need most.

From one-to-one respite and volunteer visits to emotional support and social activities, their services are shaped by lived experience and delivered with care. The team understands the pressures of caring and offers practical, compassionate solutions that encourage independence and connection.

Popular services include:

  • Volunteer-led respite support

  • One-to-one befriending and regular check-ins

  • Information and guidance for Carers

  • Emergency and hospital discharge support

  • Social groups and confidence-building activities

The Association of Carers champions the needs of unpaid Carers at every level. Their work ensures that people in caring roles are not left isolated or unsupported. Everything they offer is free, flexible and grounded in community understanding.

If you are an unpaid Carer, or know someone who is, their team is here to help. They listen, support and make things a little easier.
