Your Mission (should you choose to accept it)

On Sunday 8th June 2014, individuals will abseil for Maggies Dundee, raising much needed funds with every inch of their 40 metre descent. This special event will take place in the Dunkeld area of Perth and Kinross between the hours of 9am and 4pm and is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. There is a registration fee of £25 to join in and fundraisers are expected to raise a minimum of £150 sponsorship.

Abseiling in aid of the Maggies Centre Dundee is a great opportunity to give back to the local community and challenge yourself in the process. Perhaps you’ve always had a fear of heights or are looking to break the monotony and embrace adventure à la Ben Stiller in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty? Whatever your personal motivations might be, don’t just sit there – seize the day and sign up by emailing claire.heaton@maggiescentres.co.uk. You’ll be glad that you did.

The Importance of Fundraising for Maggies Dundee

Situated within the grounds of Ninewells Hospital, the Maggie's Centre in Dundee offers practical, emotional and social support to individuals with cancer, their families and friends. The service is free of charge and no GP referral is required. From running individual and group support sessions to hosting yoga, tai chi and expressive paint workshops; the Maggies Centre is a sanctuary for those who need it most. It costs £590, 000 to keep Maggie’s Dundee open for the year and every penny you donate through the abseil will go directly to supporting the Centre and the people it serves.

There are over 2 million individuals with cancer in the UK. We all know a friend or family member who has undergone treatment and battled with this challenging illness, all our lives are potentially bettered by the services the Maggie’s Centre Dundee offers, which is all the more reason to support this special retreat by taking up the abseil challenge! Just don't look down!!!
