Life is full of choices and going out for a cup of tea or coffee is no exception these days.  In the past we’d literally be presented with the two way choice of either tea or coffee, but now there’s so many options with espresso, cappuccino, latte and teas in multiple flavours, also would you like that hot or as an ice drink?

If this is slightly daunting if you are not used to the choices that are now available, we’d like to help with a breakdown of the coffee’s that are available to you.

Espresso – A very strong coffee, served without milk in a very small cup, this can have quite a bitter taste.  People like it, as it’s got high caffeine content and it’s often referred to as a shot of coffee too.  Many coffee houses and cafes offer a double shot for example.

Cappuccino – Still has quite a strong coffee flavour, but is served with frothy milk on top and chocolate sprinkles or cocoa.  Sometimes the addition of chocolate on top is stencilled on in a pattern, such as a love heart or swan.  It’s certainly a little more special than a straight forward white coffee and is extremely popular too.

Latte – If you like a milky coffee, you’ll love a latte.  The coffee flavour is not so strong, but the milk content is high, it often has a slightly thicker consistency.  Latte is now also offered with different flavours on top, such as vanilla or caramel.

Teas – The market is flooded with flavoured teas, but many still prefer the good old British cuppa with milk.  The choice of fruit, mint and herbal teas are endless and many places also offer these as iced version too, which sometimes arrive with lashings of cream on top for decoration and indulgence.

We’re certainly underestimating the great flavours that these options have by attempting to describe them with words, but hope that if you’re unsure of the differences that we’ve helped you to understand them a little better.  However, the best way to find out is to visit your local coffee house.  Henry’s Coffee House certainly offers a wide range of coffees and teas and you can have them warm or iced.  It’s well worth a visit, with a fabulous atmosphere and so many beverages to try
