Facebook Page Changes

Facebook have started to roll out changes to ‘Pages for Business’ formerly known as ‘Fan Pages’ and there are quite a few!!

Firstly, as widely expected facebook are removing the FBML app..

Important – You will still be able to use and edit the FBML app if you are already using it or if you have down loaded the app – So do it now before it goes away on March 1st 2011

The facebook page changes sees a major overhaul which gives admin users a lot more features that enables you to use the ‘Fan page’ much the same as you use your ‘personal facebook profile’, some I’m sure you will love and some perhaps not love so much – either way they are here and here to stay from March 2011

With so many changes being made in one go there will be a lot of new stuff coming out by the day, however, we have it covered and are already working on this so stay tuned for further up-dates. Any members the Social Media Blueprint for Business from Paul Jones VIP Social Media can expect to see the on-line training suit updated shortly, so don’t worry we have you covered!

Here is an overview of the most significant changes:

• Facebook is moving away from FBML to iFrames which will see the wall tabs being moved to the left hand navigation column as per the personal facebook pages – get the FBML now!
• Wall photos now appear on the top of the page again the same as the personal facebook page – usually the 5 most recent photos, but randomly at the moment
• Admins can now post on their business page from their own personal facebook page – Before you could only post as your business on a page.
• Admins will receive email notifications when somebody comments / posts on your page – If you run multiple pages you can turn this off, thankfully!
• A business page can now post / comment on another business page as their business! Before you could only post / comment on a page from your personal profile – watch out for ‘unwanted posts’!!
• Facebook have added a ‘Moderation Blocklist’ so you can block certain words from appearing on your wall – This should help towards ‘unwanted posts’

In short as an admin you can now use your ‘business page’ in the same way as you use your ‘personal facebook profile’
