THE CLUB and Spa at Hoole Hall is helping to train one of its members for a mammoth charity hike covering 85 miles in just 24-hours.

Lucy Miller 22 from Chester is a set to embark on the Isle of Man’s Scottish Widows Walk this Saturday, June 25, in a bid to raise funds for Diabetes UK.

The extreme walk begins at 8am and will finish at the same time the following day, which gives Lucy just 24-hours to complete the gruelling hike.

Lucy will be joined by two other avid walkers and they all attempted the walk last year. Impressively they raised a total of £1,192 for The Christie Charity and Lucy managed to complete an impressive 61.5 miles of the 85.

She says: “This year I am determined to complete the full 85 miles. We also want to raise as much money for charity as possible.”
Diabetes UK is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition.

Lucy has embarked on an intense personal training programme devised specifically for her challenge by personal trainer Emily Muir from the Club and Spa at Hoole Hall Chester.

Lucy says: “The programme has really helped me focus my training solely on the walk, by conditioning my legs so they are strong enough to take on this massive challenge.”

Personal trainer Emily says: “Lucy’s progress has been fantastic. I’m positive she will complete the trek. Her hard work and dedication has to pay off.

“We will be supporting her all the way and as a valued member of our club we will raise extra funds by holding a member’s raffle and also throw in a pair of trainers to help her on the trek.”

The Club and Spa at Hoole Hall is tucked away within the Victorian walled garden of DoubleTree by Hilton Chester. The multi-million pound, purpose-built facility boasts a next generation gym and an industry leading spa, set over three spacious floors.
