The director of a North Wales’ prize winning firm of financial advisers has won a top award at a prestigious UK-wide industry ceremony.

Stephen Jones director at 75point3, which provides advice to individuals and businesses on all aspects of financial planning for pensions, life assurance, investments and mortgages, was awarded Cautious Investment Planner of the Year at Money Management magazine’s recent 2011 Financial Planner of the Year awards.

Established in 1996 and sponsored by Schroders the awards take place at The Dorchester Hotel in London every year. Provided with fictitious client case studies, entrants submit a written report detailing advice about how best to manage the client’s assets and investments both in the short and long term. They also undertake a presentation followed by an interview with the judging panel.

Commenting on his entry Stephen Jones said: “I have entered many similar awards in the past and as a result developed useful report templates for various aspects of our business. 75Point3 is about to undertake a Retail Distribution Review (RDR); which established by the Financial Services Authority aims to enhance consumer confidence in the retail investment market; and a template for cautious investors is top of the list. Winning this particular category is, therefore, good timing and I hope will endorse our credentials to potential clients. 75Point3’s system looks beyond attitude to risk and more about how much risk a clients can afford at different stages of their lives and how much risk they need to take to meet lifetime objectives.”

On behalf of the judging panel, Janet Walford OBE, editor at Money Management magazine, said: “Stephen's entry clearly and concisely identified the clients’ requirements and explained how his recommendations would meet their needs. He demonstrated that he had reviewed the clients’ circumstances in the round and identified a number of additional planning areas that needed to be addressed. Lifetime cash flow models were used to good effect and the judges liked the way that Stephen used these to educate the clients about different aspects of risk.”
