NORTH WEST LAW FIRM BOOSTS EXPERT OFFERING

Law firm SAS Daniels LLP has increased its specialist offering by appointing two of the region’s leading advisors in property law and farming.

Specialist property lawyer Andrew Clark, has joined the firm after spending 37 years with Chester-based Steggles Solicitors. He has more than 20 years experience post qualification experience as a Licensed Conveyancer and brings with him a solid market knowledge and a reputation as one of Cheshire’s leading property lawyers specialising in residential and commercial property work as well as landlord and tenant matters.

Commenting on the current shape of the property market, Andrew said: “2010 has been a difficult year for the property market. Commercially, the lack of money in the economy has deflated property and rental values and demand has fallen away at all levels.

“Equally however, it has been a playground for those with the cash and the necessary status requirements to satisfy the lending criteria of the banks. For the opportunistic entrepreneur with the right product, it has been a perfect time to grow a business, for example through the opening of new retail outlets in leased property.

“As with this year, 2011 will still present a muddled picture, but there are positive signs – I don’t expect to see any further long-term reduction in property values. It should mean a more active market – an exciting time for property experts, and I look forward to seeing the developments in the market at SAS Daniels.”

Andrew has been joined in the Chester office by specialist agricultural lawyer Graham Gigg who has spent the last decade in his own practice, Gigg & Co.

His expertise includes dealing with matters relating to agricultural land, the single payment scheme, agricultural tenancies and diversification.

Commenting on his appointment, Graham said: “Agriculture is a niche market and not something most firms can handle with genuine authority. SAS Daniels is striking out ahead of the game by predicting markets that will need specialist attention over the next few years, this will be one area where we can provide a full service - supporting farmers in resolving their legal issues.

“Agriculture remains a billion pound industry but the last few years has seen some challenging times, particularly in the dairy sector, and we have a long way to go. Our farmers are running their own businesses in a really tough environment - the more we can help them through this difficult period, the better in the long run for the economy.”

Headquartered in Stockport, SAS Daniels is organised across five practice groups: corporate, real estate, litigation, employment and private client.

The firm is rated amongst the best in the region by Chambers and the Legal 500 – the two leading client guides to the UK legal profession.

Managing partner at the firm, Nigel Haddon said: “These two appointments are the latest in a string of developments designed to boost the growth of specialist expertise within SAS Daniels. Not only will it benefit existing clients but it will also open the firm up to more niche markets requiring specialist advice in the region.

“Great firms are based on great people and we are constantly striving to boost our offering to the market.”
