Cheshire Jets are pleased to announce that power forward, Shawn Myers has agreed to re-join the Northgate outfit for the upcoming season.

This will be the fourth occasion Shawn has signed up with the Jets, the first time being as far back as 2002.  He also played in the last team from the Northgate to win silverware in 2005.

Shawn was born in Trinidad & Tobago, and played for the Milton Keynes Lions last season averaging over 14 points in about thirty five minutes playing time per game, shooting above 35% from three point land.  And over 70% from the free throw line.

A graduate of the University of West Georgia, the dynamic 6’6” Myers has also had stints with the Newcastle Eagles, the Glasgow Rocks and the Leicester Riders in his long and illustrious BBL career.

Head Coach John Lavery was happy to welcome Shawn back to the fold.

He said;

 “You can always rely on Shawn to do a job for you.  I guess you could say he is in the veteran class now, but you only have to look at his stats from last season to know that he is still a force to be reckoned with.  I know he is in good shape and I expect him to play a significant part in the rotation this season.”

He went on to say
,
 “A number of the players on the roster this season are young and relatively inexperienced, and Shawn knows this league like the back of his hand.  His experience will be invaluable to the younger players, helping them to settle down and play to their potential.”

Shawn himself could not hide his delight at re-joining the Jets;

“It feels like coming home” he said,

“Although there are a number of new players, I know the court and the league and I am sure that I can do a job for the team, the coaches and the fans.  I will do whatever is asked of me, and whatever the team needs.  If I am needed from off the bench to spell the other guys, I can do that, but if they need me to play the whole forty minutes I can do that too.”

He also added;

“One thing that has never changed, however long I play is that I want to win, and it would be good to help bring some silverware back to the Northgate.  The Jets fans deserve it, and it’s about time!”
