After the retirement of David Pickering, the Board of Chester City Management (CCM) appointed its new Chairman at its October meeting. Paul Daniels the Managing Director of thebestofchester accepted the nomination and will take charge at the groups next meeting in December.

Commenting on the appointment Chester Renaissance Chief Executive, Rita waters said, “ Paul already represent a large contingent of businesses’ in the city within his own company and I am sure he will bring a fresh approach as to how he and the CCM board can best represent the retail sector of Chester in these demanding times. I am looking forward to working with him”

Commenting on his appointment, Paul Daniels said “I want to thank David Pickering for his leadership of City Management since 2008.  During this period, City Management has delivered hugely successful initiatives that have delivered commercial benefits for retailers including, but not limited to, The Smile campaign, Free after 3, Chestival, Food and Drink Festival, Christmas Campaigns, ShopChester.net and many more. 

“It is imperative City Management continues to provide a cohesive representative body that delivers effective business support for the retail sector of Chester.  I work and talk with businesses in Chester every day therefore, I know from my personal experience that trading conditions are challenging.  I’m looking forward to working with City Management, our retailers, the city’s public and third sector leaders  to ensure we influence policy and strategy to achieve our strategic and commercial aims together.”

CCM are at the centre of the Christmas programme currently and the new Chairman is excited about the prospects for this festive trading period as he explained “ The programme of events that CCM and Chester Festivals have put together this Christmas is exciting, fresh and unique to our city. This program demonstrates CCMs commitment to support our Retailers, the increase in footfall will deliver commercial benefits.  We at CCM are delighted with the backing we have had from both Chester Renaissance and Cheshire West and Chester Council to really make a difference in the city this Christmas.”
