A Chester student who used social media to gain the attention of potential employers has landed a job as a PR account executive.

Lily Tucker caught the eye of Cheshire-based Freer PR after launching a Twitter campaign using the hashtag #OperationHireLily.

She said: “I started #Operation Hire Lily purely to see how far my Twitter connections would take me, I never expected to get such a great response or find a company that I was so in tune with. The icing on the cake was landing a position with Freer PR.”

Lily recently finished a degree in journalism at University of Chester and comes to the company with a year’s PR experience gained through work placements and a part-time role at a Wirral-based marketing communications company.

Nicki Spindler, Freer PR’s managing director, said: “Having Lily on the Freer PR team is fantastic. Her proactive plan to find an opportunity was such a refreshing approach and I’m confident her skills and ideas will make a great contribution.

“Lily has already injected some great ideas into our current campaigns, and our clients have found her passion and understanding of social media infectious.

“We needed to grow the team due to a number of new clients coming on board. Our business is relationship lead and we’d been seeing an increase of new clients being referred us. In order to continue to offer the best possible service to our client-base, we needed more talent.”
