Last chance for free wills service for over 55's from SAS Daniels

Local people over the age of 55 have just one week left to take advantage of a free will writing service, launched by Marie Curie Cancer Care and Chester law firm SAS Daniels LLP.

The initiative was launched to highlight the risks of not having a valid will in place. It is estimated that as many as two thirds of the population risk their estates being distributed according to intestacy laws, rather than to their wishes.

The service, which runs until 15th August, is open to anyone over the age of 55 who is not already an SAS Daniels client. Those who are eligible will be able to make an appointment to visit SAS Daniels offices in Chester to make a will or amend an existing one free of charge.

Bik-ki Irving, associate solicitor and head of the wills team at SAS Daniels, said: “We’ve had a great response to the free will scheme so far. Lots of people put-off planning for the future but without a will you risk having no control over what happens to your property and possessions.

“Marie Curie Cancer Care provides a fantastic service and we hope that the scheme will encourage people to support their essential work when they settle their affairs.”

Marie Curie Cancer Care offers care for terminally ill people in hospices and in the community, as well as providing support for families of patients. Last year Marie Curie nurses in Cheshire cared for over 200 patients and provided more than 10,000 hours of home nursing care.

Availability is limited so if you qualify for the scheme and would like to find out more please contact Carol Tyzack on 0844 391 5841 or by email at willenquiry@sasdaniels.co.uk

The free will writing service is available on a first come, first served basis.
