The Blues impressive 15-game unbeaten record away from home came to an end at Lancaster City’s Giant Axe on Saturday afternoon as Neil Young’s men saw their lead at the top of the league reduced to six points.

Despite being backup up by a large travelling support, it took the Dolly Bluebirds just six minutes to take the lead when Billy McKenna headed home a follow up after goalkeeper Adam Judge had blocked his initial effort following good build up place from Dave Swarbrick.

Mike Taylor, sent off in the previous Cup tie at the Giant Axe made amends this time round with a header to make it 1-1 just eight minutes into the second half from Robbie Booth’s left sided corner.

The lead wasn't to last however, as Adam Judge's clearance went straight into the path of Danny Hattersley made no mistake firing home just three minutes after Chester pulled level.

The Blues tried to fight back with substitutes Chris Simm and Kyle Wilson brought on in search of a second equaliser, but play off chasing Lancaster City held firm to bag the three points and reduce Chester's lead at the top to six points.

Now the Blues have three home games in a row to try and restore confidence.
