THE Ladies Tangent luncheon for MacMillan Cancer was able to go ahead in Chester after a local hotel agreed to raise a marquee within its walled garden.

Members of the Ladies Tangent joined together at the DoubleTree by Hilton Chester for their annual Northern regional luncheon whilst raising funds for MacMillan Cancer Support. 

More than 220 guests attended the charity luncheon and raised more than £1,000. The event took place in a marquee located in the hotel’s 18th century Victorian walled garden.

Event organiser and Chester Tangent club member Jane Jones says: “We are so grateful to the staff and management at the DoubleTree for catering to the needs of the Tangent.

“Feedback from many of our members stated that this was one of the best venues for the Northern regional luncheon.

“From the yellow and blue themed interiors and flowers, which are in fact the Tangent’s colours to the delicious three-course meal, we couldn’t have asked for a better day.

“Monies raised from the event will go on to support the fantastic work of MacMillan nurses throughout the UK.”

The marquee was the first to ever be erected within the DoubleTree grounds and was specifically done so by the hotel for the Ladies Tangent event.

Two wedding bookings had secured the DoubleTree’s other event facilities so thankfully the marquee allowed for the luncheon to take place.

DoubleTree Chester sales and marketing manager Clare Bebb says: “It was an extremely busy time for the hotel and its staff. We aim to provide all our guests with the same exemplary service and experience when visiting our establishment.

“I’m thrilled that the marquee was such a success and that it was used for such a worthy cause. The reaction we had from its presence was fantastic. Bookings for weddings using the new marquee facilities have already come in on the back of the Tangent regional lunch.”
