Chester tourism providers are being urged to showcase their successes in a celebration of excellence, achievement and creativity at this year's Visit Chester & Cheshire Annual Awards.

Businesses including visitor attractions, retailers, hotels, B&Bs, bars, restaurants and tourism website managers across the county are all set to bid for honours at this year's ceremony and hopefully follow in the footsteps of one of Chester's top performers at the 2009 Awards, Carden Park Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa.

With 15 award categories to choose from including Small Hotel of the Year, the Taste of Cheshire Award for businesses who are primarily focussed on selling and using local produce and, re-introduced for 2010, the Holiday Park of the Year, these Awards are sure to find the best of Cheshire tourism businesses.

Accommodation providers who wish to enter the awards must be graded with either Visitbritain or AA. For other criteria or more details about the categories please visit www.visitchesterandcheshire.co.uk/awards

The entries will be judged by a panel of experts and the winners revealed at a glittering ceremony at Chester Racecourse in June.

Winners of a number of categories will automatically be entered into this year’s England’s Northwest Tourism Awards to represent Cheshire. If successful, they may go on to take part in the National Enjoy England Awards for Excellence like Arley Hall and Gardens and Kerridge End Holiday Cottage last year.

Chester hopes it can now repeat the great success at the Annual Awards it has seen in recent years. Last year, Carden Park, Golf Resort and Spa collected a fantastic trio of awards including the Sustainable Tourism, Large Hotel of the Year and the coveted Excellence in Business Tourism Awards while wine retailer Corks Out picked up the Best Tourism Retail Business Award and Roman Tours Ltd picked up the Best Tourism Experience for 2009.

Emma Bellis, Commercial and Events Manager at Visit Chester & Cheshire explained: “These awards are a great opportunity for tourism businesses. Businesses that have high levels of quality, innovation and service should enter the awards as they are an opportunity for everyone that enters to boost their business confidence!”

Nominations close on Friday, 19th March.
