For the first time the coveted ‘PR agency of the year’ title was snatched away from the hands of some of Manchester’s PR giants and awarded to Chester’s very own de Winter.

Chester’s communications agency de Winter is the first Cheshire firm to take the title of ‘PR agency of the year’ at the annual How-Do Awards, which were held last week.

These hugely competitive awards celebrate the high standard of media and creativity throughout the whole of the North West and this year attracted record figures of over 600 media professionals at Lancashire County Cricket Club for the event.

The BBC, ITV and the Hollyoaks cast turned out to see the region’s media industry battle it out, with the most coveted award for ‘PR agency of the year’ being introduced to the room as the “most highly contended category.” de Winter was up alongside seven Manchester-based agencies, and was crowned the winner by judges who applauded de Winter’s creativity, results and campaign delivery.

Proving the North West creative industry is growing year on year, over 200 entries were submitted across the categories, which included ‘TV programme of the year’, and ‘best live event’.

Kate Cox MD said: "We were extremely shocked to win. This is a huge achievement for the de Winter team and a massive accomplishment for a Chester agency to beat some of the North West’s leading firms.  We're absolutely thrilled to have won.”

This is the tenth award win for the agency in the past twelve months.  Kate Cox added: “We’re now competing against the regions ‘major players’ and it’s fantastic to show that Chester houses the highest level of communications and creativity.”

De Winter will be in the spotlight again this week as Kate Cox heads to the Insider Awards to compete for the Young Professional title.

The agency works for national and regional clients including Grosvenor Shopping Centre, Golden Square Shopping Centre, Deafness Support Network, Adoption Matters North West and Unilever, and delivers media relations, social media activity and events.
