On 23 September, food lovers from far and wide gathered at leading Cheshire hotel The Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa to feast their eyes on a serving of the phenomenally successful Celebrity Ready, Steady, Learn to Cook dished up by celebrity chef Simon Rimmer and the hotel’s executive chef Leigh Myers.

Well into its sixth year, the event clearly has all the ingredients for success, attracting around 100 guests and numerous prestigious sponsors and guest presenters. The evening involves a live cooking demonstration interspersed by a three-course meal, allowing guests to sample the dishes being cooked. Everyone receives full recipes of the dishes on the menu to take away and try at home.

Throughout the evening Leigh and Simon demonstrated how to prepare and cook various dishes on a dinner party theme, offering professional insider tips along the way, while guests were able to watch their every move closely via various large screens placed around the room. Diners were also educated in wine selections for each course, courtesy of Nick Gent of Rodney Densem Wines, who chose the aperitif, wines and champagne to complement the dishes being served.

Executive head chef Leigh Myers comments: “Our Ready, Steady, Learn to Cook evenings have always been great fun and hugely popular; the addition of Simon as celebrity co-host brought a fantastic new edge to the event. Not only did the diners get to sample various high quality beverages, and enjoy delicious meals worthy of any dinner party; they also witnessed the rare treat of a live cooking demonstration by Simon. It’s the perfect night out for food and wine lovers, and offers excellent entertainment and value for money.”

The next Ready, Steady, Learn to Cook event will take place on 2 March 2012, hosted by executive chef Leigh Myers, and themed on the finest North West produce. Tickets cost just £40 for a minimum of three alcoholic drinks, cooking demonstration and three-course meal followed by coffee and chocolates.
