A security scheme designed to reduce business crime in the region has called in backup.

Chester Against Business Crime’s (CABC) – a West Cheshire and Chester Council team which helps to share criminal intelligence between businesses and the police, as well as managing a secure radio network of more than 200 radios on the streets of Chester – has signed up with member business Treble 9.

The corporate emergency company specialises in supporting companies through all aspects of risk management from planning, chaperoning business leaders during an event and helping manage the aftermath of a crisis.

Bob Lelliott, CABC’s manager explained he had turned to Treble 9 in the aftermath of disaster when the scheme’s secure Union Street offices were flooded, threatening to impact upon the service the organisation provides to local businesses.

Mr Lelliott said: “After about six months we were just about back on our feet and decided to make sure that in future, as part of our core strategy, we took risk aversion seriously. We decided to use thebestofchester member Treble 9 because of the experience Henry Platten could bring to the table. We were aware that Henry, being an ex police sergeant, would be experienced in dealing with sensitive information.”

“Henry took time to examine our business, our working practices and physical premises.

“He highlighted our vulnerable areas, with practical recommendations of what we could do to minimise future risks and ensure that if the worst was to happen our business would be able to continue operating with minimum disruption.

“We are very happy and would recommend any business to seriously consider the benefits of such a service.  It’s a fact that none of us thinks it will happen to them, but it’s a wise person who considers it a possibility and is prepared.”

Henry Platten, managing director at Treble 9 MD, explained that business continuity is “all about ensuring you have a Plan B”.

He added: “It helps to save you time and money by having commercially-friendly plans in place so you can carry on trading no matter what life throws at you.”

Treble 9 is offering members a free one-hour risk assessment surgery. For information contact Henry Platten on: (01244) 537304.
