AWARD-WINNING salon owner Tommy van der Veken is returning to his roots to judge ‘The Dutch Oscars in hairfashion’.

Netherlands-born Tommy, who has lived in the UK for nearly 10 years and runs Tommy’s salon in Chester, was recently invited to be an international judge at the Dutch Coiffure Awards and gave his input to select the winning candidates which will be announced at the glitzy event to be held in Amsterdam on May 15.

He said: “The Dutch Coiffure Awards are the equivalent of the British Hairdressing Awards, which are regarded as ‘The Oscars’ of the hairdressing world, and it was a privilege to be a representative of the UK within the judging process. It was fantastic to see so many old friends and colleagues from my early career in the Netherlands.”

Creative Director Tommy and his business director wife Esther have steered their salon to victory four times at the British Hairdressing Business Awards, and it is current holder of the Salon of the Year award.

Tommy added: “At Tommy’s we are passionate about providing our guests with the perfect salon experience. We have combined our natural Dutch heritage with trend-setting British style to create a multi award-winning business renowned for its innovation and commitment to customer care. Each member of our team is specially trained with one aim; to listen to our customers’ needs and give them beautiful hair.”
