Performing Arts Centre
The Performing Arts Centre for Chester is due to open in 2011. The centre will be situated in the heart of the city, close to site of the old Chester Gateway Theatre. This fantastic new resource for the city is being designed by acclaimed architects Hopkins, whose numerous award winning schemes includes Glyndebourne’s re-development and new auditorium.
Together with the City Council and Northgate developers ING, Chester Performs is planning a centre of international renown which will be a truly open resource for the city and the region.
The centre will be led, not only by a dynamic management team, but also by artists and the community themselves. This will ensure recognition for its work and will encourage local communities to develop interests and careers in the creative industries and will set the centre as a model of good practice in its field.
