Second time of visiting this restaurant, couldn’t fault it. We booked ahead to ensure a rake could be reserved for my birthday, no problem. The wait in between courses was well times, fresh and very hot food. All round impeccable service. Bathroom facilities very clean, a lovely vibe in the restaurant as it was very busy! I’d happily recommend to family and friends and will return again soon.

We have visited a few times in the past few months , the food here is outstanding! Lovely staff who are so friendly and go above & beyond! They surprised my daughter with a candle and a cake for her birthday .. it made her evening .. Such a lovely cosy atmosphere- highly recommend Il palazzo! Best Italian food I’ve ever had!

I’m not sure what went wrong , but it certainly wasn’t quite right either - my prawns starter - the prawns came literally uncooked - raw , when I pointed out they offered to bring new ones but I can only assume they’ve completely forgot about it. In the meantime my fellow diners finished their starters and I ended up eating no starter. Wasn’t a big deal but I was still charged for it and no apology was offered. It’s a good place for a pre theatre meal but please cook the food before it goes out of the kitchen.

My wife and I fancied some Italian food so went looking and found this lovely little restaurant. So we thought we'd take a punt and see if we could get in. We were welcomed at the door, asked if they could fit us in and was shown to a table. The staff were very good, friendly and polite and the food was absolutely top notch. We will definitely be going back... More than once.

Fantastic authentic Italian restaurant, the food is amazing always served piping hot by friendly and knowledgeable staff that make you feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble they are very happy to accommodate any special requests you have and you can take your time between courses. Generous portion sizes and reasonable prices will definitely be visiting again soon.

Lovely place to eat if your going to the theatre. They have a pre theatre menu which is not expensive. I had a pizza and dont like tomato sauce and they kindly let me have a pizza without the sauce. Goid value. Would highly recommend x

The food was amazing, well cooked, tasty and they know their menu. Lovely wine and engaging staff made for a wonderful evening with friends. I can highly recommend the calzone and sardine starter, although the scallops and insalata caprese were also thoroughly enjoyed as was the pollo Milanese

Excellent attentive service with a good amount of time left between each course meaning we had a lovely relaxed family meal. The food was delicious with ample portion sizes but not too large that we left some! We will be going back.

Excellent quality food and enjoyed every bit of it. Starters were amazing as well as the main course. Amazing service and nice calm atmosphere. Perfect for a evening meal. Deserts were incredibly satisfying.

I have come to Il Palazzo for years it is so lovely here. Waiters are so attentive and lovely, food is super tasty and it is also very reasonably priced. Would recommend to anyone!

Booked in 3rd Feb for my Son's Birthday, always amazing food , the staff are second to none & atmosphere is always electric. My Father-in-Law & myself had T- bone Steaks and we would both go to say having had T'bones in the past not many have come close to this gem of a restaurant. My Wife & I and 3 chlidren have been using this place for the past 2 year's and the quality of the food is always the same not too mention the wine. 1st class food, wine and staff so welcoming, don't past by this little gem in Chelmsford..

Came here on a Saturday evening had not booked but they managed to fit us in. Last ate here in 2017 and its improved a lot since then. Food was great we ate mainly off the specials board every course was fantastic and the price was good for the quality of the food & service, the is a good vibe to the place. well done to all the staff. We will defiantly be back again

This was an unplanned last minute change for my daughter’s birthday. We were all pleasantly surprised how full the restaurant was for a Monday evening and lucky to get a table.
From this point forwards the food drinks and service was fabulous. Friendly waiting staff and high quality food with generous portions and Moretti beer on tap!
We mentioning in conversation towards the end of our visit that it was my daughter’s birthday and they without asking a few minutes later brought in a cake with candle as per photo. A very lovely gesture that was unexpected.
