We were a large party of eighteen and had pre-ordered the first two courses. Our table wasn't quite ready but we didn't have to wait for more than ten minutes. All meals were served together and were hot and as ordered. The food was good and well presented. Everyone was happy with their choices and the desserts were very good. The service was friendly and efficient. Good value too.

18 of us went for dinner last night (Saturday 27th Jan). We had a superb night.
The staff were great - always there if you needed something and very cheery & fun.
My Monkfish main course was perfect - a beautiful piece of fish, cooked just right and am dente veg to go with it. I had excellent profiteroles for desert - exactly as expected in an Italian restaurant - not like eating cardboard as is often the case elsewhere.
Absolutely fabulous night. Thank you Ill Palazzo team.

We had been meaning to go here for a while since it had changed ownership. Not sure why we left it so long.
We had the £12.95 set lunch which was great value. All dishes were cooked fresh and our mains came up with lots of more fresh vegetables. Not sure why one of the recent reviews refers to pre cooked packet/brakes bros meals as all of ours were some of the best we have eaten for a while like most of the other customers.
Highly recommended.

The service was excellent and the food very nice. I did have one complaint, I ordered a risotto and was very disappointed when it came out with LOADS of peas which were not stated on the menu. I hate peas and couldn't even pick them out because there were so many. Luckily my fella loves them and swapped meals with me or I would have very embarrassingly had to order something else or go hungry! I explained this to the waiter who apologised. I so feel like these things should be stated on the menu considering all the other items were yet there were more peas than anything else! However the meal I ended up eating was fantastic and my other half really enjoyed the risotto

We visited before the 6pm pantomime. They served us quickly and we were finished in under 45mins. The food was excellent, the children had pizzas from the child's menu. These were pretty big and not much smaller than the adult portions. I had veal limone, it was very nice. The veal was tender and the sauce nice. The vegetables were not over cooked. My wife enjoyed her seafood pasta.
The only thing that was mildly annoying was the large Christmas party that were very noisy. However this was not the restaurants fault. Definitely worth going again.

This is a lovely restaurant opposite the bus station and train station so very handy for lunch or evening meal.
The staff are really nice and attentive and the restaurant is decorated with big murals of Italy. It's almost like being on holiday there. We have been here a few times and would definitely recommend this little gem.

I visited the Palazzo restaurant in Chelmsford this evening. The restaurant is located in the busy area opposite the bus and train station. It is a mid sized restaurant with a number of car parks nearby.
Il Palazzo was not busy but the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The menu is extensive and a comprehensive drinks menu is also available with a selection of wine by the bottle or a house wine available by the glass. Draught lager is also available.
The food on offer is a typical selection of Italian food with meat, pizza, pastas, fish, etc aswell as a selection of specials.
I ordered meatballs in tomato sauce and garlic bread with cheese as a starter. It was a tasty dish and served as a decent sized portion. The main was however superb - fish stew with a selection of very tender squid, mussels, prawns, vegetables, garlic and a tasty sauce served with bread. Another good portion of food with plenty of flavour and I could have eaten it again.
A refreshing vanilla panna cotta desert finished my meal and was light and tasty.
A very enjoyable meal with the Sardinian fish stew the star of the show. I found Il Palazzo to be a good restaurant although it is not the cheapest. I may return here if the opportunity presents itself but it is likely to be infrequent.
Service was excellent throughout and I was not hurried at all. The food was delivered quickly and fresh and I would recommend the restaurant overall.

Three of us had booked to go and see/ listen to the show at the theatre, needing a light bite we decided to try this place as it was just up the road, what a good choice!! The staff were really welcoming and even though we had not booked it was no trouble, we had the garlic bread with cheese as a starter and it was more than enough for three, main courses were simple but good, although the carbonara was not as creamy as it could have been, better another time maybe, well worth a visit and we will be back again for sure, great value!!
