7 year or 100k miles warranty not to be trusted, it is a scam. I bought a Kia Sportage from new, all of the services were made at Kia, after the first 2 years, I noticed the clear coating was coming off the alloy wheels so I decided to take the car to Kia as its was still under warranty, everything went reasonably well. The issue came 1 year later when had the same issue happening again. They actually refused to change or repair the alloy wheels, stating the warranty only works once. I read all the documents I could find regarding this and nowhere it stats it only works once. I found this interesting, in essence if you have an issue with parts and Kia replaces it with another defective part, according to this, they think they can just go away from the responsibility. From there I decided to contact Kia direct and they told me that they cannot overrule a decision already made. As simple as. I wanted to share this with you all, this is more a aheads up to what you will be up against if deciding to go to Kia to purchase your vehicle. I personally won't go back to Kia. Without having specific details of your concerns or experiences it is difficult for me to comment in this particular instance. However, it may be useful to provide some background as to the general approach to replacing Alloy Wheels. The process of assessing eligibility and replacing Alloy Wheels under the Terms & Conditions of the Warranty Scheme offered by the Manufacturer is a straightforward one. Where Alloy Wheels have been replaced in the first instance during the vehicle’s warranty period, there is a probability that this would have been done utilising factory refurbished wheel stock. Subsequent failures of the previously replaced Alloy Wheel(s) are then subject to a slightly different process to the initial “First Time Replacement” which may be what you are alluding to with your comment “the warranty only works once”. These later types of concerns are then subject to closer inspection by a Kia Dealer who will examine, and take images of, the affected wheels for submission and consideration by the Manufacturer, should they meet the initial inspection criteria for the Dealer to be able to establish a material defect. Claims for further replacement of wheels will generally not be considered if there are signs of any damage whatsoever to the wheel(s), this will include any kerb damage, stone chips in the lacquer, damage around the edges of the wheel spokes, use of corrosive/aggressive wheel cleaners etc. As I said it is difficult to comment on your case without detail and having seen this post on another Kia Dealer site I am assuming that we have not seen your vehicle here. However, if you would like us to inspect the wheels for you then please just give us a call and we will be only too happy to arrange a mutually agreeable time for the inspection to take place.
I am very pleased with the car I am buying and the sales service I was given. There was no unwelcome pressure to buy. The salesman gave me as much time as I needed and there was no restriction on the after-sales assistance which I requested and am delighted with. Polite, hospitable, helpful and informative. I could not have asked for more attentive service.
