It’s almost bank holiday weekend, the time when most shops are closed. But that doesn’t mean you should stay in and laze around in bed! With sunny, hot weather coming this weekend and on bank holiday Monday, it would be such a waste to spend it indoors. In Bury there are many events happening that are bound to get you enjoying the sunshine and outdoors.

Walking for Health run the Summerseat District Community Health Walk every Monday. It will be leaving from Summerseat Garden Centre at 11am. This would be a great way to get fresh air surrounded by nature. With the chance to make new friends, and improve your cardiac health, guided walks are an excellent way of discovering the local area and countryside.

The East Lancashire Railway are hosting Bury's very own 1940s weekend. This is your chance to show off your gorgeous vintage clothing! A family fun experience including 1940s make-over, free vintage bus service, vintage crafts activities along with musical and dancing shows. Be sure not to miss it! This fabulous event will be happening over the weekend and bank holiday Monday.

If you prefer the indoors and not even the sunshine can convince you otherwise, don’t worry. There are plenty of activities that are indoors, like the Wear Your PJs Day at the Garsdale Country Inn. This is a family fun event with tons of activities to do, including a bouncy castle and face painting.

The Pimhole Community Farm will be coming along with their animals, such as bunnies where kids would be able to stroke it. Wear Your PJs Day aims to raise awareness of disabilities and terminal illnesses in children, along with raising money to provide trips to for these children with their families/carers. You’d be contributing to a child’s hope of going on holiday. It could be your good deed of the day if you come!

For more information on events and activities happening in Bury and in your local area, feel free to visit the Best of Bury website. Who knows what you’ll find!

There’s also a section for local offers, great value for money might I add! Hopefully we'll see you at one of the events this weekend!
