After the unprecedented success of previous events such as the James Bond themed night and the Great Gatsby evening, Munro Greenhalgh are once again organising a tremendous, themed charity ball. This time it's ABBA!
A tribute band will take us through all the hits, you will enjoy a fabulous 3-course meal, whilst there will be lots of fun activities to help raise much needed funds for Cancer Research UK (CRUK). Details of how to book are included later - but make sure you are searching for your iconic ABBA lycra unitards, electric blue satin and sequins!
According to ABBA: The Official Photo Book, published to mark 40 years since they won the Eurovision song contest with Waterloo, the band's style was influenced in part by laws that allowed the cost of outfits to be deducted against tax - as long as the costumes were so outrageous, they could not possibly be worn on the street!
The charity ball, being held on Friday 14th October at The Stables, Bolholt Hotel, will be a great gathering of local businesses, friends, and colleagues all intent on having the 'time of their lives'. However, it is probably worth reminding us all why we raise money for charity and why CRUK is such a worthy cause....
CRUK are just entering their 20th year of fighting cancer. They receive no government funding for their research so every pound and pence raised from events like this go directly to everything from purchasing glass slides to building a new research centre, from clinical trials to getting treatments swiftly and safely to patients. Put simply: your money helps their scientists get closer to finding a cure. Cancer related statistics do not make good reading, but thanks to your kind donations and our dedicated scientists, since 2017 there has been a decrease in deaths from cancer in the UK (7% decrease in men, 6% in women). This will get better - CRUK tell us and we believe in them.
