B4B meeting 22nd Feb, 2012

This morning's meeting was really good, slightly down on attendance but with 2 visitors it was a very positive one.

I have been the only lady  in the group, something that I think needs changing - a bit more "girl power required!"  so it was nice to have 2 additional ladies in the room today accompanying me.  If you are a lady in business, why not pop along and give us a try?  Men welcome too of course!

Our 10 minute presentation this morning was from the amazing Ian Lavin who is a close up magician.  He has to be seen to be believed, his magic really does leave you wondering how on earth it happened and I for one will be trying to work it out for the rest of the day.

The presentation was a very clever twist on his work and was aimed at generating business leads and contacts through exhibitions - how you ask? Well, by joining a business and effectively working for them as part of the team Ian can engage potential passing trade to you and your exhibition stand by using clever magic tricks that incorporate your brand.  As he involves your business into his presentations he is getting them to buy into what you do and who you are and more so, how you can help them. Sounds complicated but believe me, first hand it works and it's wonderful.

There is also another trick he uses which is simply to generate business cards and therefore leads for your business.  All very simple but extremely effective. 

Simply get a piece of paper, get a member (randomly chosen by another person from the groups business cards)  to write their name on it.  Fold the paper, place into a handkerchief, open it up and it's disappeared!  Now for the good bit - reach into your inside pocket, pull out a sealed envelope and open - what's inside? The very same piece of paper with your name on it, that you wrote just a few minutes before..................................

Ian is available for any family event, childrens parties or now exhibitions. 

There was a really positive feeling in the room this morning, many contributions passed and a real desire to succeed and grow the group. 

We meet at Stand Golf Club in Whitefield every fortnight, meeting at 7.15am for 7.30 start.  A big hearty breakfast is then served at 9am to set you up for the day ahead.
